Join sailing specialist, Wildwind, as it sets sail from its renowned base in Greece to head to Mauritius for the UK winter – with prices starting at just £735 pp, including a complimentary island tour*.

Under its sister brand, Wildwind Adventures, the long-established (26 years) Wildwind has launched its winter and spring programme at its new sailing and water sports centre in Mauritius.

Initially opened under a pilot scheme in January 2014, the new centre is now one of only two RYA**-recognised sailing centres in the Indian Ocean. (**RYA is the Royal Yachting Association.)

Simon Morgan, Managing Director/Founder of Wildwind and former British National Sailing Champion, comments: “We are one of only a handful of UK tour operators that offer holidays in the sun during the UK winter months where clients can learn to sail, or improve existing sailing skills, on our diverse fleet of state-of-the-art dinghies and catamarans.

“We’ve had great feedback from the lucky clients who have already visited our Mauritius centre and we’re very proud to officially launch this year’s new winter and spring programme.”

With an impressive reputation for high-quality sailing holidays in Lefkas, Greece, Wildwind has created a centre in Mont Choisy, on the north-west coast of Mauritius, that guarantees Wildwind’s personalised instruction and top-class equipment, with the additional bonus of Wildwind Adventures’ more extensive programme that offers an eclectic mix of activities to suit everyone, from sun-worshippers to adrenaline junkies.

What’s on offer:

Two sailing spots with steady trade winds are available: the inner bay is perfectly protected, making it an ideal place for those looking to learn to sail or improve technique, whilst, outside the reef, the team run controlled ‘at sea’ sessions for those with more experience and a need for speed.

If you fancy trying something new, why not have a go at Wildwind Adventures’ stand-up paddle boarding or windsurfing, with daily tuition included for each? Or upgrade to the Wildwind Adventures Plus programme and go on an island tour on a big catamaran with snorkelling and a taster scuba session included, a hike to see cascading waterfalls in the tropical rainforests and a trip to the famed local rum factory, Rhumerie De Chamarel, to sample some ‘liquid sunshine’?

Lessons for all sailing and water sports are available daily for adults and children aged 6+, with teaching geared to the abilities of the individual, including both land and water-based instruction. Children’s sailing classes are taught to correspond with the RYA’s Youth Programme.

Accommodation:

Guests stay at the ocean-front Coral Azur Hotel, famed for its warm and welcoming service. The spacious 88 guest rooms include nine bungalows and a combination of double, twin and triple-bed rooms, all with floor-to-ceiling windows providing views towards the lush gardens or the Indian Ocean. Each room is equipped with air conditioning and cable/satellite TV. Sumptuous daily breakfasts and buffet dinners using the freshest local produce are provided, as well as beach BBQs and live entertainment.

Lead-in price:

A one-week holiday costs from £735 pp without flights and from £1,418 pp with direct British Airways flights to Mauritius (Gatwick). The price includes seven nights’ half-board accommodation, airport transfers, sailing and Wildwind Adventures’ water sport activities, daily tuition and equipment, and regular live music and entertainment. Upgrade to the Wildwind Adventures Plus programme for just £95 pp. (Nine, ten and 14-day holidays are also available.)

* SPECIAL OFFER: Book before the end of October and enjoy a complimentary island tour, including Black River Gorges National Park and its spectacular waterfalls, amazing Hindu temples and a private guided tour of the local rum factory.

In Lefkas, the Wildwind sailing centre also runs the Wildwind Adventures programme as well as its sister set-up, Healthy Options. The latter provides a varied programme of yoga and Pilates, combined with other sporty activities, on a picturesque beach setting in Vassiliki.

It is also running a luxurious yoga & Pilates holiday to Marrakech (seven-night holidays depart on 1 and 8 November, and weekly from 21 February to 28 March. Four-night break available on 16 February).
