Undiscovered Destinations unveils new women-only tours
Immersive, small-group tour operator Undiscovered Destinations is unveiling two, new women-only escorted tours – carefully created for culturally curious women seeking authentic connection, reassurance and shared discovery – to mark International Women’s Day (8 March 2026).
From the historic Casbahs and desert citadels of Algeria to the sacred monasteries and Himalayan valleys of Bhutan, the new meaningful itineraries place women’s stories, traditions and leadership at their heart.
Emma Holmes, sales consultant, says: “Ideal for solo female travellers as well as friends travelling together, these small group departures are designed to feel supportive, relaxed and welcoming from the very start. Having travelled extensively both independently and on group tours myself, I know just how important it is to feel comfortable, confident and in good hands while you travel. Both trips are led by professional local female guides and open doors to women’s social spaces and traditions rarely experienced on mixed itineraries, offering a more personal and empowering perspective throughout.”
Highlights of Northern Algeria & the M’zab Valley – 8 days from £2,495 pp
Discover one of North Africa’s most intriguing and least-visited destinations on this pioneering, women-only journey through northern Algeria and the remarkable M’zab Valley. Travelling with a local English-speaking female guide throughout, explore the layered history of Algiers, from its UNESCO-listed Casbah to Ottoman palaces, before crossing dramatic landscapes to Constantine’s soaring bridges and south to the fortified desert towns of Ghardaïa and Beni Isguen. Unique cultural moments include wearing the elegant El Haïk (a traditional wrap garment), preparing traditional mhadjeb (flatbread), a hands-on pottery workshop, coffee and sweets in a Moorish home and relaxation in a traditional women’s hammam.
Departing 3 October 2026, the price of £2,495 pp (two sharing) includes seven nights’ accommodation with breakfast, all transfers and transportation, domestic flights within Algeria, some meals, entrance fees and the services of a professional English-speaking female guide throughout. International flights extra. 31 January & 9 October 2027 departures also available. Single supplement is £265.
Bhutan Cultural Journey with Nalakhar Festival – 12 days from £3,595 pp
Immerse yourself in the spiritual heart of the Himalaya on this extraordinary women-only exploration of Bhutan, travelling throughout with a local English-speaking female guide. Journey from Thimphu to Punakha, Bumthang, Phobjikha and Paro, experiencing ancient dzongs, serene valleys and living Buddhist traditions. A highlight is attendance at the vibrant Nalakhar Festival in Bumthang, where sacred masked dances and ritual music unfold in a deeply spiritual community setting. Meaningful encounters with Bhutanese women – including a female homestay owner, time within a Buddhist nunnery and a meeting with local entrepreneur Sonam Choden of Bhutan Herbal Tea – offer rare insight into women’s roles in faith, family and modern enterprise. The journey culminates with a pilgrimage hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery, dramatically perched above Paro Valley.
Departing 19 November 2026 (timed for the Nalakhar Festival), the price of £3,595 pp (two sharing) includes accommodation, all meals, transfers and entrance fees, Bhutan entry visa, permits, fees and taxes, and the services of a local English-speaking female guide throughout. International flights extra. 19 May (timed for the Petsheling Festival) & 9 December 2027 departures also available. Single supplement is £400.
