Travel PR is now representing Daisybank B&B
Located in Brockenhurst, the heart of the ancient New Forest National Park, the characterful 1901 Arts and Crafts house has seven stylish en-suite bedrooms all on the ground floor (five in the main house and two in the Gardener’s Cottage in its private grounds). The house displays many of the original features of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh movement and its accommodation raises the B&B bar with luxury marble bathrooms, silky Egyptian cotton sheets, super-sized beds, Roberts radios and specially-commissioned paintings and artworks adorning the walls. Bathroom goodies include organic soaps courtesy of Caroline de Rothschild.
The AGA-cooked breakfast is a feast of local products, including eggs from a local farm, accompanied by a range of teas, organic coffee, juice, fresh fruit and artisan jams, plus home-made granola and soda bread. Breakfast orders are placed in flowerpots outside the bedrooms (choose full New Forest breakfast, Daisybank full Irish breakfast, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast or bespoke). All dietary requirements are catered for, and vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options are available.
Thoughtful touches abound; there are homemade cupcakes on arrival and there’s an honesty bar for pre-dinner drinks with local gins, rums and wines (sample Hopkins Rum from the Dancing Cows distillery in nearby Lymington and Rock Sea Vodka from the Isle of Wight Distillery). Charming hosts Cheryl and Ciaran go the extra mile to make guests feel at home and are on hand to offer personal recommendations for places to visit, drink and dine.
Local area:
The New Forest is Britain’s smallest – and oldest – National Park, covering an area of 220 square miles and home to around 3,000 horses and ponies that roam freely. The forest offers a glorious blend of open heath lands, ancient woodlands and beautiful coastline that can be explored directly from Daisybank on foot or by bike. Local maps, hints, tips and information on the surrounding area is provided by Cheryl and Ciaran.
Daisybank is situated a ten-minute stroll from the charming village of Brockenhurst, home to a train station (1.5 hours to London Waterloo) and a plethora of cafés and restaurants. The ancient seaport of Lymington, with its rich maritime history, yacht-filled marina and open-air sea-water baths is 15 minutes by car, as is Beaulieu’s Palace House, Abbey, National Motor Museum (home to the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Del Boy’s three-wheeler and Harry Potter’s Flying Ford Anglia) and the spectacular 200-acre Exbury Gardens.
Lead-in price: A one-night stay costs from £110 per room (two sharing), including full English breakfast.
For a special treat, opt for the Dandelion Suite, complete with a Victoria and Albert volcanic limestone bath, patio and private sauna, priced from £130 per room (two sharing), including full English breakfast.
