The Watermill at Posara
The Watermill at Posara reveals its creative holidays for 2020
Paintbrushes, pens and knitting needles at the ready: The Watermill at Posara reveals its creative holidays for 2020
Situated beside a river in the small village of Posara in Tuscany, The Watermill is a complex of beautifully-restored buildings originating in the 17th century, set around a sunny courtyard, with an adjoining vine-clad verandah, rose pergola and sun-filled walled garden – an inspiring location for its expert-led painting, creative writing, knitting and Italian language holidays.
Throughout the week-long holidays, guests of The Watermill enjoy delicious traditional Italian cuisine (both home-cooked and at local restaurants), the generous hospitality of owners Bill and Lois Breckon and the chance to connect with like-minded individuals, while improving their skills in the beautiful gardens, well-equipped studio and at nearby villages and viewpoints.
Extensive renovations have recently taken place, with newly-designed bedrooms named after Italian artists, air conditioning installed throughout and the introduction of solar panels, which have allowed The Watermill to become self-sufficient in electricity. In other attempts to minimise its effect on the environment, food at The Watermill is home-grown or locally sourced whenever possible, and guests are provided with reusable stainless-steel water bottles and fresh filtered water to enjoy throughout their stay.

When I first started out travel writing, twenty years ago, I was writing a weekly round-up for The Independent. The first PR agency I ever tapped into for their clients' holiday ideas was Travel PR; they were always full of great suggestions for the column and responded quickly. Over the years, I've worked with them on many occasions and their close association with AITO has always paid dividends. Nothing has changed; some of the best story ideas I get herald from them, and their response time remains very speedy. They are a pleasure to work with.Mark Stratton, Freelance Travel Writer
