The Torridon is crowned Pride of Britain Hotel of the Year 2014

Our Stories

Pride of Britain Hotels, the consortium of 49 privately-owned independent British hotels and spas, is proud to announce that The Torridon in the Scottish Highlands has been named as Pride of Britain Hotel of the Year 2014 due to its outstanding hospitality.

Set in the Western Scottish Highlands at the end of a spectacular sea loch, The Torridon – complete with Rapunzel-like towers – is an 18-bedroom luxury hotel set in 58 acres of grounds, complete with grazing Highland cattle. The hotel offers an action-packed programme of complimentary activities which encourage guests to explore the stunning surroundings, including archery, rock-climbing, loch-kayaking, mountain biking and guided walks. Sightings of red deer, golden eagles, otters, seals and a myriad of other local wildlife are a frequent bonus.

The Torridon is known for its well-stocked whisky bar featuring more than 350 malts and the restaurant, headed up by chef David Barnett – who combines fresh Scottish ingredients with French flair – boasts three AA rosettes.  Many ingredients are grown in the hotel’s two-acre kitchen garden and the on-site farm rears organic beef, chicken and pork.  Other delicacies such as venison, grouse and seafood are all sourced nearby.

All of the 18 en-suite guest bedrooms have wonderful views and are beautifully appointed with Egyptian cotton bedding, iPod docking stations, WiFi, Roberts radios and Victorian-style bathrooms  – indeed, many rooms boast freestanding claw-foot baths.  For guests seeking absolute privacy, there is also a private boathouse on the loch shore that accommodates up to four guests.

A two-night stay at The Torridon costs from £235 pp (two sharing) including full Scottish breakfast and the complimentary activities programme.  To book an overnight stay, and for the best available price, call Pride of Britain Hotels on 0800 089 3929 (www.prideofbritainhotels.com).

Ends – 13 May 2014
