Seaham Hall

The heat is on… both in treatments and in awards

Five-star Seaham Hall, on Durham’s splendid Heritage Coast, is shortlisted in the World Spa & Wellness Awards as it unveils three brand new heat-based experiences
14th September 2017
Boutique Seaham Hall – a glorious Georgian manor house, sparkling after its £3M refurbishment – is delighted that its stunning 44,000 sq ft Serenity Spa has been shortlisted in the World Spa & Wellness Awards 2018. Others shortlisted within the Hotel Spa of the Year category include the Bulgari Spa at London’s Bulgari Hotel, and the Dior Institut at Hotel Plaza Athénée, Paris.
This news comes just as Serenity Spa reveals three brand new Asian-inspired thermal facilities:
Salt Sauna
When Himalayan salt is inhaled, its antibacterial properties purify and detox the lungs and sinuses. This has health benefits for those who suffer with asthma, seasonal allergies, coughs and chest congestion, and skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.
Asian Herbal Sanarium
A sanarium combines the benefits of a sauna and a steam room and is a mid-point between the two, with the combination of heat and steam serving to bring impurities to the skin’s surface, where they can be rinsed away. At Seaham Hall the sanarium is heated to 60 degrees, and its gentle humidity is suffused with exotic essences from Asia. This, together with a beautiful digital orchid display, creates a fully sensory, sublime experience.
Indian Steam Chamber
Seaham Hall’s new Indian Steam Chamber evokes the bygone age of the Indian dynasties. Luxurious essences relax the mind and body, with the heat stimulating one’s circulation and enhancing the purifying and detoxifying process.
Seaham Hall is connected to its Serenity Spa via a spectacular, tranquil subterranean walkway. Here, you’ll find a 20-metre pool, 17 therapy rooms, a hammam with walk-in snail showers, an ice fountain, a sanarium with crystal light therapy, a black granite steam room with amethyst crystal, outdoor hot tubs, and much more.
Special offer: ‘Starry Night at Seaham Hall’ costs from £179 based on two people sharing and includes: luxury suite accommodation, full use of the spa including the new facilities from 12 noon on the day of arrival until 12 noon on the day of departure, and an indulgent full English breakfast. Valid Sunday – Thursday. Valid 1st November 2017 – 31st January 2018. Excludes Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve.

Seaham Hall is under three hours by train from central London, and by car is just 20 minutes from Durham, 40 minutes from Newcastle, 90 minutes from Edinburgh and less than three hours from Manchester. The hotel’s close proximity to Newcastle is also ideal for those travelling from international destinations, via Newcastle airport and/or the North East Ferry Port.
Seaham Hall is featured in Tripadvisor’s 2016 Travellers’ Choice Top 25 Small Hotels in the UK and Top 25 Luxury Hotels in the UK, and additional current accolades include Spa Manager of the Year in the Boutique Hotelier Awards, Editor’s Choice Spa in the Good Hotel Guide, Five Bubble Luxury accreditation by the Good Spa Guide, and Gold in ‘Small Hotel of the Year’ at the North East England Tourism Awards.
