First European City Breaks Press Event to be held in London
(Copthorne Tara Hotel, Kensington, London W8, 1400 to 1830 hrs)
CITY BREAKS OUTRANK BEACH HOLIDAYS IN POPULARITY BY 15%
Following the successful 6th European City Breaks Press Event in Amsterdam in April, a NEW City Breaks media event will be held in London on the afternoon of Tuesday 19th September, 2017. Participating city tourist boards, airlines and rail companies, hotel chains, city guide publishing houses and other city-break-related organisations are invited to promote themselves to UK travel journalists, bloggers, Instagrammers and influencers.
The new London-based media workshop is an initiative of Dutch-based travel PR company Baltus Communications. Says Marcel Baltus: “European city breaks are an extremely important segment of the travel industry, and demonstrate consistent growth year after year. ABTA figures show that 53% of UK residents plan to go on a city break versus 38% on a beach holiday.
“This event is particularly interesting for upcoming cities in Europe plus associated organisations such as specialist operators, publishing houses and suitcase manufacturers; consumers are increasingly looking for new and different city experiences.”
A diverse range of cities (see below) have already confirmed their participation. For further information, or to book a table (prices from £845), contact info@baltuscom.nl or visit the dedicated page on www.baltuscom.nl.
Baltus is working with UK-based Travel PR for the London event; it is handling media invitations. Says Travel PR’s MD Sue Ockwell: “The UK’s population of over 65M means that the potential for the city break industry in the UK is an astonishing 10 times that of the extremely-buoyant market in Holland, where a successful City Breaks event has been held for the past six years. This is a must-attend event for every organisation involved in city break sales or marketing.”
Says Baltus: “Gone are the days when each and every individual travel organisation organised its own press event. Dwindling numbers of editorial staff and time constraints mean that the most efficient and practical way for media to get information and to network with the key city break players is at this new European City Breaks Press event, which will deliver a one-stop shop for the media.”
Attendees confirmed include Dresden, Karlsruhe, Kassel and Heidelberg (Germany), Leeds and Hull (UK), Perpignan, Dunkirk and OUIBUS (France), Warsaw (Poland), Gouda, Keukenhof and The Hague (Netherlands), Brussels (Belgium), Tel Aviv and Jerusalem (Israel), and Ljubljana (Slovenia).
