Santa Eularia on Ibiza’s east coast is a good bet for families.  The classy resort boasts spotless sandy beaches and an interesting mix of art galleries, restaurants and boutiques.  This three-bedroom villa (property id: 21747 – sleeps eight) is virtually fully booked but has three weeks’ availability from mid-August.  The modern, open plan property has a private pool and is close to all local amenities. The Gaudi Exhibition Center at the Museu Diocesà de Barcelona will continue to offer its “Walking with Gaudi” exhibition and, by the end of the year, the UNESCO World Heritage Site Casa Vicens – Gaudi’s first major work – will open as a public museum. The charming village centre has a daily food market and, nearby, there are marinas, oak woods and vineyards.  Visit Baelo Claudia – the most complete Roman town yet uncovered in Spain – in the tiny village of Bolonia, or hop on a boat to Morocco for the day. Rustic Hilltop House in Andalusia – from £109 pp
