Mille Miglia motor race with Classic Grand Touring
Classic Grand Touring, the specialist motoring holiday expert, has just a few remaining spaces left on its Mille Miglia road trip from Saturday 13 – Wednesday 24 May 2017, which this year is set to be even more impressive as the Mille Miglia celebrates its 90th anniversary alongside Ferrari’s 70th anniversary celebrations.
The trip in a nutshell:
- A self-drive itinerary along some of the most breath-taking roads in Europe, across France, Switzerland, and finally to northern Italy, where the Mille Miglia (‘Thousand Miles’) rally takes place (18 – 21 May).
- Mille Miglia is one of the most exclusive car races in the world; participating cars must have taken part in the races between 1927 and 1957, so it’s famed for its immaculate classic and vintage cars. The route runs from Brescia to Rome and back again, which is one thousand miles, hence the name of the race.
- Accommodation includes some luxurious and charming hotels and châteaux in France, Switzerland and Italy, including Château de Fère in France and I Due Roccoli, Iseo in Italy.
- The maximum group size for this trip is just 15 cars, and participants benefit from the services of an experienced and expert guide, who ensures they have ‘pole position’ at key points to observe the vintage vehicles whizz by, as well as the chance to enjoy driving some of the most exceptional stretches along the race’s route for themselves.
While the Mille Miglia is one of the world’s most iconic rallies for classic car enthusiasts, this road trip is open to all drivers, even if they own a more contemporary model. The route in France passes through Champagne country, where participants will have a chance to speed around the Grand Prix circuit at Reims, then down to the Swiss Alps – with stunning views towards Lac Leman – before reaching Italy. Classic Grand Touring offers charming experiences here, too, such as a boat ride on Lake Iseo and wine tasting, as well as ensuring that clients enjoy almost as many thrills as Mille Miglia’s 350+ teams of competitors. The return route runs back through Switzerland and on into Alsace, where the group stays at the magnificent Château d’Adomenil before heading back to the Channel and England.
The 11-night trip runs from 13-24 May 2017 and costs from £2,595 pp (two sharing), including return travel with Eurotunnel’s Le Shuttle from Folkestone to Calais, high-class B&B accommodation, dinner on ten evenings, lunch on three days, all bus transfers during the Mille Miglia and a range of great experiences.
