NEW: Immune-boosting ishga meets tailored touch therapy

In partnership with the organic seaweed skincare range, ishga, Seaham Hall has launched ishga in good hands, combining the natural, healing properties of seaweed with an advanced, ancient ‘touch’ technique for those affected by cancer, anxiety, depression, phobias, exhaustion and stress.

Committed to innovation, sustainability and holistic health, the five-star hotel and spa on Durham’s Heritage Coast has worked closely with ishga over recent years to develop a range of unique treatments for its guests, with previous therapies including combining the therapeutic properties of seaweed with the ancient principles of Ayurveda.

Now, the award-winning spa has become just the second spa in the UK to offer ‘ishga in good hands’, with eight of its experienced therapists completing the specialised training (which will deliver a range of 30-minute treatments) with ishga’s Head of Training, Natalie Rodgers, who developed her skills and knowledge in this field with Cancer Support Scotland.

Hebridean seaweed extract is the keystone of ishga. It is one of the world’s most naturally abundant sources of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants and essential fatty acids. The new treatments using this ingredient are delivered in a safe and gentle way, so as not to interfere with any current medication or ongoing treatment plan. Focusing on the power of tender touch, selected therapists have developed advanced skills to enable them to work carefully, and respectfully, with this client group.

Commenting on the new treatments, Sarah Thornton, Head Therapist at Seaham Hall’s Serenity Spa, explains that the ishga in good hands treatments are tailored to each individual client and are reassuring and soothing, using slow and methodical movements that leave them feeling tranquil and at ease.

“The benefits of seaweed in boosting the immune system are astounding, and the treatments are personalised to fit a client’s individual circumstances, taking into consideration mental, physical and overall wellbeing,” she adds.

“Clients instantly feel relaxed and able to switch off from troubling thoughts, drifting away into a state of complete calmness.”

Following a detailed consultation, a treatment plan is formed, including two therapies from the range of 30-minute ishga in good hands treatments listed below.

  • Shoulder & Neck massage
  • Mini Facial
  • Comforting Foot and Leg massage
  • Soothing Scalp Massage
  • Face & Shoulder Massage
  • Hand Treatment
  • Foot Treatment
  • Algae Gel Wrap

A treatment plan costs from £85 per person for the 60-minute ritual.

Dedicated to growing its portfolio of holistic health treatments, Seaham Hall currently offers a range of alternative therapies to its guests that focus on the key tenets of rebalancing life, sleep quality, de-stressing and more, such as hypnotherapy, Mind Calm sessions and meditation.
