Scandinavia Holidays – New Brochure

Sunvil launches its 2016 year-round Scandinavia Holidays brochure
Comprehensive programme offers unrivalled range of properties and engaging new itineraries that delve deep into this increasingly fashionable region
Independent specialist Sunvil introduces its 2016 year-round Scandinavia holidays brochure, offering a unique range of scrupulously-researched accommodation and carefully-crafted, innovative itineraries throughout Sweden and Norway, plus short breaks to Denmark’s stylish capital, Copenhagen.
New highlights for 2016 include the stunning islet of Smola, overshadowed by the dramatic mountains of the Norwegian Fjords, a handful of flexible itineraries that demonstrate the impressive breadth of experiences and bespoke holiday options that Sunvil now offers in Scandinavia, and no less than 22 additional properties, including a brand-new igloo concept at Pine Tree Lodge in Swedish Lapland (Sunvil is the only UK operator to feature this property), and the historic Isfjord Radio Station hotel, a remote outpost in the Spitsbergen wilderness.
Says Rachel Jelley, Scandinavia holidays product manager: “When we started our year-round programme to Scandinavia eight years ago, the region was very much untapped and unexplored by the typical British traveller. Now Scandinavia’s unique culture – its cutting-edge design, coveted quality of life, addictive crime fiction, right to roam amid stunning wild scenery and innovative gastronomy scene – has touched each and every one of us. Scandinavia is more fashionable than ever before. This, coupled with the current favourable exchange rate, suggests it will be another popular year for visitors from the UK, whether during the Midnight Sun of summer to the Northern Lights of winter.”
NEW PROPERTY HIGHLIGHTS
IN SWEDEN…
Grinda Wärdshus, Stockholm Archipelago
Consisting of no less than 30,000 islands, rocks and skerries, the Stockholm archipelago makes an excellent extension to a city break in Sweden’s green capital, itself built on 14 islands. Sunvil has selected peaceful Grinda, offering secluded spots for swimming, far-reaching sea views and gentle countryside. Grinda Wärdshus offers simple guestrooms on its northwest coast, just steps away from pretty Hemviken Harbour. A seven-night stay costs from £897 pp (two sharing), including flights (Gatwick) and B&B.
Idala Gard, Southern Sweden
A traditional farm located in the pastoral countryside of south-western Skåne, a short drive from historic Trelleborg. The food here is particularly noteworthy – locally-sourced seasonal produce is used to create classic Swedish dishes. Visit in the summer when the rolling hills are transformed by vibrant rape and apple-laden orchards, and the days are long. A seven-night stay costs from £803 pp (two sharing), including flights (Gatwick), B&B and car hire.
Pine Tree Lodge igloo concept, Northern Sweden
Available exclusively in the UK through Sunvil, these brand-new, heated igloos – located deep in the wilds of Swedish Lapland – are not made of ice but are transparent, making them perfect for viewing the magical Aurora Borealis as you sleep beneath the stars. A three-night Magical Northern Lights tour costs from £986 pp (two sharing) and includes flights (London), full board, transfers and a snowmobile and dog-sledding excursion. Bookable locally and subject to availability, a night in an igloo is an additional £163 per night.
IN NORWAY…
Smola Havstuer, Norwegian Fjords
Exclusive to Sunvil, the scenic islet of Smola boasts a moor-like landscape, which sharply contrasts with the towering peaks of the fjords. Located of the North Sea coastline, it’s close to the iconic Atlantic Road and makes for a serene stopping point. Sunvil has handpicked a recently renovated sea house with uninterrupted views of the Atlantic; every room enjoys a sea view. A seven-night stay costs from £1,150 pp (two sharing) including flights (Gatwick), B&B and car hire.
Arctic Panorama Lodge, Northern Norway
This intimate, six-bedroom lodge is located at the entrance of Lyngen Fjord, where the breathtaking snow-capped mountains are reflected in the Arctic Sea. Venture out on foot and discover gushing rivers, blue glaciers and rugged, weather-beaten landscapes. A seven-night stay costs from £1,080 pp (two sharing) including flights (Gatwick), B&B and transfers.
Lauklines Kysterferie, Northern Norway
A remote trading post now converted into six sleek waterfront cabins that offer a romantic retreat set amid the stunning Arctic countryside. Activities on offer include whale safaris, glacier walking, dog sledging, sea fishing and, of course, the chance to experience the magical Northern Lights. A seven-night stay costs from £1,229 pp (two sharing) including flights (Gatwick), B&B and car hire.
Isfjord Radio Station, Svalbard archipelago
Originally an important telecommunications link between Svalbard and mainland Norway, reached only by snowmobile or
dogsled when a blanket of snow covers the island (October to May). Set in the wilds of Spitsbergen, the station was destroyed in WWII before being rebuilt and carefully preserved. In 2013, it was awarded the St Olav’s Rose – the hallmark of Norwegian heritage. Prices are on request.
NEW ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

From £1,946 pp (two sharing) including return flights (London), 14 nights’ B&B, airport transfer and car hire.
A short break in Malmö, Ystad and Copenhagen
