Peter Sommer Travels celebrates its 21st anniversary with NEW keys to Ancient Turkey cruise

Cultural tour specialist Peter Sommer Travels marks its twenty-first anniversary in 2023 and, to celebrate, has announced a new expert-led archaeological and cultural gulet cruise, offering guests the keys to ancient Turkey with a voyage along its turquoise coast.

The new, 15-day Cruising the Carian Coast tour departs on 17th September, leading guests on a fascinating journey along one of the Mediterranean’s most scenic and richly historic coasts in the charming comfort of a traditional gulet. Guests onboard will experience the full breadth of the Turkish coast’s history, cuisine and culture, sailing the same seas along this ancient route which brought the riches of the near east and Egypt to the ancient Greeks. Prices start from £4,795 per person (two sharing), including full-board accommodation and all crew services on the gulet, airport transfers, excursions with expert guides, and all entrance fees and tips on land.

· A Gastronomic Gulet Cruise (21st-28th May & 24th September-1st October). This culinary adventure is a treat for foodies as it forges a voyage of discovery through Turkish Mediterranean cuisine. Included are cooking demonstrations in small traditional restaurants and the chance to get involved in cooking some delicious Turkish dishes. The wider culture of Turkey is the context for this food-focused tour, with an introduction to its archaeology and history also playing an important part in the itinerary. · Cruising the Dalmatian Coast: from Dubrovnik to Split (27th May-3rd June & 2-9th September). Dalmatia, the southern part of Croatia’s Adriatic Coast, is a region of immense natural beauty and historical significance. It’s a region of mountains, sea and islands: important for ancient travellers and traders, and perfect for a gulet cruise. Together, Dalmatian and Illyrian tribesmen, Greek colonists, Roman and Byzantine soldiers and emperors, Croat warriors, Venetian traders, Ottoman and Italian fleets, and French and Austro-Hungarian governors have left a legacy of unique cultural heritage, waiting to be explored and enjoyed.
