Open-air secret cinema, outdoor resort lounging areas and summer garden spa parties: Seaham Hall unveils its new post-lockdown experiences for guests
Five-star hotel gets creative with guest services, providing new resort-style spaces for relaxation and more in the fresh sea air
Reopening its doors today, Tuesday, 7 July, Seaham Hall, the iconic Georgian manor house on Durham’s Heritage Coast, has created some exciting new experiences for guests this summer.
Blessed with ample space within its 37 acres of landscaped gardens, just a five-minute stroll from the cliffs of the Durham Heritage Coast and the new England Coast Path, and with just 21 boutique suites, Seaham Hall is the perfect post-lockdown escape.
With government restrictions still in place on spa facilities, Seaham Hall has looked for new, fun ways to provide its guests with the much-needed relaxation they would normally enjoy in its award-winning Serenity Spa.
With relaxation the key, Seaham Hall will be launching the following new options for guests – all pre-bookable prior to arrival:
IN THE ‘RESORT’…
Seaham Hall Secret Cinema: Seaham Hall’s grounds set the scene perfectly for a movie night under the stars. Hotel guests can curl up on hooded pod beds and deck chairs, and indulge in a selection of cinema snacks, from popcorn and prosecco to hot dogs, Seaham-style nachos and much more, while enjoying cinema classics as dusk drifts into darkness. Friday & Saturday evenings; movies free of charge. Drinks/snacks to be added to individual suite tabs.
Outdoor Resort Lounging: Saunter on to Seaham Hall’s expansive terrace and lawns, and choose your own lavish lounger amidst plenty of space and fresh air, or cuddle up in a hooded pod for two. This is a place to unwind in the stunning surrounding scenery, from sunrise to sunset, with The Dining Room restaurant team on hand to provide the refreshments of your choice – perhaps freshly-prepared cocktails or a G&T with nibbles will hit the spot for you? Lounge area free of charge. Drinks/snacks to be added to individual suite tabs.
Gourmet Picnics: July is National Picnic Month and, to celebrate, Seaham Hall is offering a range of new luxury picnic hampers for its guests. Whether you choose a garden setting or would like to pitch up on the beach, the hotel team will provide blankets, deck chairs and an ice bucket, plus a selection of locally-sourced, savoury and sweet treats for your pleasure – and even a bottle of Taittinger if you feel so inclined! Seaham Hall has also created several new secluded seating areas within its grounds for maximum privacy. £24 pp for the picnic; £40 pp to include a half bottle of Taittinger Champagne.
Summer Spa Party on the Terrace: The Serenity Spa team will ensure your skin is summer-ready with its outdoor treats. On the terrace, in an intimate corner close to the spa, a Temple Spa guru, expert in the luxury skin care brand, will take you through a personal skincare session, using key products to leave your skin glowing. In this interactive session, guests will be able to try the products (DIY) and receive recommendations from a skincare guru to compose their perfect skincare routine. Bookable on selected dates only; £15 pp, redeemable on product purchases above £25 on the day of your session.
Summer spa party on the terrace
Chef’s Selection Apéritif Afternoons: Head chef Damian Broom and his team will be serving spontaneous afternoon apéritifs in the Seaham Hall gardens (this will not take place daily, but at chef’s discretion based on produce availability). Lie back, relax and await the surprise delivery service! Guests can tuck into a selection of delicious nibbles, from cold canapés to BBQ bites, while enjoying the resort’s spacious grounds. Afternoon apéritifs are free of charge to guests.
Pop-up Outdoor Skill & Core Set Corner: Feeling active? Soak up the stunning coastal views and fresh sea air while enjoying an outdoor sunrise training session with the hotel’s pop-up Technogym. Access to My Wellness App will help drive fitness goals – or why not opt for a one-to-one PT session with Seaham Hall’s trainer, Phil, who can provide specialist workout plans for any experience level? Then relax with your post work-out breakfast. Free use of Technogym for hotel residents, 8 am to 11 am daily. One-to-one training is £50 pp (solo) or £40 pp (couples) for a pre-bookable one-hour session.
Bikes & Bites: Pre-book a bike and enjoy time spent peddling around the 37-acre grounds and along the coastline pathways, clearly waymarked. The team will be happy to provide you with a picnic. All bikes will be cleaned thoroughly between each use. Free of charge for guests.
IN YOUR SUITE…
Candlelit Alfresco Dinner in your Garden Suite: From the comfort of your own secluded Garden Suite, the Seaham Hall team will create a delicious alfresco dinner for two (all dishes will be delivered to your suite at a set time to ensure social distancing is maintained). After dinner, guests can relax in their private hot tub under the stars. Candlelit Dinners cost no more than the same menu in the hotel’s restaurant – there is no charge for the romantic set up à deux in your garden suite’s courtyard; available only in garden suites.
Romantic Tub & Taittinger for Two: The perfect romantic end of day treat – soak, reset and reconnect with your partner in a luxurious Temple Spa treat of bath and body oil, surrounded by scattered rose petals, while sipping on Taittinger Champagne; delivered to your suite by a Spa Hose. £65 per couple.
In-room Pamper Hamper session: Cuddled up in your fluffy robe and slippers, in the privacy of your own room, your preferred skincare set will be delivered to your suite, including full-size cleanser, toner and moisturiser. A Spa Team member will take you through a personalised skin consultation via the suite’s in-room tablet, with a tailored skincare routine and application tutorial. £55 pp (inclusive of products – the full-sized toner is free of charge).
Ishga Seaweed Bath Butler: Delivered to your suite (at a set time to ensure social distancing is maintained), hand-harvested pure Scottish seaweed from the Hebridean coast, with over 85 natural trace minerals, will be placed in your perfectly-prepared bathwater by the Seaham Bath Butler. Rich in vitamins and minerals, there are many healing properties in seaweed that strengthen immune systems – more important than ever at present – delay the ageing process and combat cellulite. Guests will also receive a full-size ishga Body Oil worth £36.50. £45 pp for the Bath Butler service.
Bedtime Hypnosis Meditation: Seaham Hall’s resident hypnosis guru, Silvia Mather, has pre-recorded a selection of bedtime hypnosis sessions, available on each suite’s tablet. The sessions encourage you to sink into a deep state of relaxation, perfectly primed for a good night’s sleep after a day in the fresh sea air of Seaham. Free of charge to guests.
