Kudu Travel launches two new cultural walking tours for 2017 – the Dolomites and Cape Cod

Leading specialists in cultural walking tours to destinations worldwide, Kudu Travel, has launched two new walking tours for 2017 (the Dolomites and Cape Cod), bringing the total number of new tours to four. The 2017 programme includes 37 tours and 35 different destinations to choose between – including Montenegro, Morocco, Costa Rica, La Réunion, India and Uzbekistan.

Accompanied by highly-skilled tour leaders and usually a local guide, Kudu Travel’s small-group tours include daily walks, cultural and historic elements, excellent food and wine, and itineraries designed for exploring off the beaten track.

NEW: Walks, Wildflowers and Pinnacles in the Dolomites – from £2,390 pp with Kudu Travel

Nestled in the north-east of Italy, the Dolomites are a scenic UNESCO-listed mountain range and European hot spot for wildflowers and butterflies. After the first two nights in South Tyrol, staying in a hotel set in a bucolic high altitude meadow, the base for the rest of the week is the beautiful town of Cortina d’Ampezzo in the heart of the southern Alps. Highlights include daily guided walks brimming with Alpine wildflowers, visits to local museums (learn about the Mondeval Hunter Man who lived 7,500 years ago in Selva di Cadore, Titian’s birth place and the historic conquest of the Dolomites by explorers including Reinhold Messner) and outstanding regional food and wine with dining experiences ranging from mountain refuges and simple trattorias to Michelin-starred restaurants.

Walks, Wildflowers and Pinnacles in the Dolomites (25 June-2 July 2017) costs from £2,390 pp (two sharing) including seven nights’ full board (two nights in a traditional mountain hotel in South Tyrol and five nights in a four-star hotel in Cortina d’Ampezzo), all land transportation, entrance fees, sightseeing, cable car trip and activities as per itinerary and the services of a Kudu Travel tour leader. Flights to Venice extra. Walking grade: standard (2-4.5 hours per day). Call Kudu Travel on 01225 436 115 (www.kudutravel.com).

NEW: A cultural walking tour of Cape Cod and the islands – from £5,890 pp with Kudu Travel

cape cod

Extending far into the Atlantic, Cape Cod offers the quintessential New England experience.  Quaint fishing villages and seafood shacks, calm waters dotted with clipper ships, historical lighthouses and grand sea captains’ houses, and excellent walking on heathlands, saltmarsh and sand-dune flanked deserted beaches.

Led by Kudu Travel’s founder, Fi Lowry, this trip begins in Boston before heading to the Cape. Travelling by water ferry to the islands of Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Wellfleet and Chatham, spend three nights on each to gain an in-depth appreciation of their unique charms – classic wood-shingled cottages, cobbled lanes leading to boat-filled harbours, fascinating small museums and early churches.

Highlights include a guided walk along Boston’s ‘Freedom Trail’, guided daily walks with birdwatching, seal and whale-watching boat trips and a sailing trip in Nantucket Sound on board the classic wooden sloop ‘Endeavour’. Plus, expect to feast on sumptuous seafood throughout: lobster, clam chowder, baked oysters, scallops and fish, fresh from the surrounding waters.

Cape Cod and the Islands – a Cultural Walking tour from Boston to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket (13-26 September 2017) costs from £5,890 pp (two sharing) including 13 nights’ full board (historic hotels and traditional inns), all land and water transportation, entrance fees, sightseeing and activities as per itinerary and the services of a Kudu Travel tour leader. Flights to Boston extra. Walking grade: standard (1-3.5 hours per day). Call Kudu Travel on 01225 436 115 (www.kudutravel.com).

Further new tours for 2017 include gorilla trekking in Rwanda (5-18 January 2017; price from £6,890 pp, two sharing) and a cultural walking tour of New Mexico and Colorado inspired by acclaimed artist Georgia O’Keeffe (5-17 August 2017; price from £5,490 pp, two sharing).

Flights are not included but can be booked through Kudu Travel.

I have worked with Travel PR for almost 20 years - during which time they have helped to facilitate access to a wide range of clients, tourist boards, destinations and tour operators. While the contours of travel have inevitably changed during that time, Travel PR have been a constant. I have always found them to be professional, helpful, and easy to deal with.
