Sunvil expands its Italian portfolio for 2017

Italy specialist of 38 years adds five properties in Puglia, two properties in Basilicata and introduces three new itineraries in the region

Specialist operator Sunvil has added seven new hotels to its Italy programme for 2017, featuring five spectacular properties in Puglia, including elegant mansions and traditional Masseria, and two fantastic hotels in Basilicata’s Matera, famous for its cave dwellings.

Sunvil has also introduced three inspiring new itineraries to its portfolio, which take guests through magnificent historic towns, along beautiful coastlines and offer accommodation with a difference in a range of remarkable hotels.

New accommodation in Puglia:

Enjoy fantastic views from roof-top restaurants and a variety of spa treatments at Sunvil’s new hotels in Puglia. The five-star Risorgimento Hotel is an elegant mansion located in the heart of the Baroque city of Lecce, a few minutes’ walk from wonderful Piazza Duomo, its cultural attractions and prestigious buildings. (Seven nights from £796 pp.*) The four-star Ostuni Palace Hotel  is quietly located, just 8km from the coast and only a 10-minute walk from the centre of Ostuni’s historic centre, with its numerous palaces, churches, cafés and restaurants to explore. (Seven nights from £778 pp.*)

Ostuni Palace Hotel, Puglia

Retreat to Puglia’s scenic landscapes with Sunvil’s new country-based hotels. Situated in the Salento peninsula in southern Puglia, Naturalis Bio Resort & Spa is a fortified farmstead, surrounded by organic citrus orchards and a small vineyard. Producing its own Negroamaro wine and aloe plants, used to make the Naturalis organic health product range, the resort has an intimate spa and a large salt-water infinity pool with uninterrupted views of the estate and the surrounding countryside. (Seven nights from £998 pp.*)

Masseria Giampaolo farmhouse, Puglia

Alternatively, twin fortified farmhouses Tenuta Monacelli & Masseria Giampaolo are set in 835 acres of ancient olive groves and border the Natural Park of Bosco e Paludi di Rauccio, in Cerrate. Guests can explore the region with private guided hikes and walks, join wine tours in the Salento region’s wineries or indulge in a Pugliese culinary experience with cookery classes run by the best chefs in Puglia. (Seven nights from £1,045 pp.*)

Pool, Naturalis Bio Resort & Spa, Martano

Friendly four-star Covo dei Saraceni Hotel occupies a dramatic, cliff-top location, overlooking a sandy cove in Polignano a Mare on the eastern coast of Puglia. The historical centre of Polignano spans the period from the Middle Ages to the Baroque and can be reached within a ten-minute walk. (Seven nights from £1,018 pp.*)

New in Basilicata – Matera, upcoming Capital of Culture:

Matera will be a Capital of Culture in 2019, showcasing its ancient churches, cathedrals and museums, steep winding alleyways and a wide selection of restaurants, cafés and bars. Sunvil features two new remarkable hotels here. Firstly, the five-star Palazzo Gattini, set in a 15th century stone palace in the city’s historic centre, overlooking the Sassi di Matera caves and occupying a prime position in the Duomo Piazza opposite the cathedral. (Seven nights from £1,323 pp.*) Secondly, Sextantio Le Grotte della Civica Hotel is a four-star boutique property built into the atmospheric caves of the Sassi de Matera, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The rooms are beautifully crafted using the natural archways, vaulted ceilings and stone flooring. (Seven nights from £1,342 pp.*)
