New Cancer Touch Therapy at Seaham Hall

Five-star Seaham Hall launches Cancer Touch Therapy
Launching at the award-winning spa at Seaham Hall – a boutique hotel overlooking Durham’s glorious Heritage Coast – is Cancer Touch Therapy.
Working together with Made for Life Organics, Cancer Touch Therapy offers a selection of soothing spa treatments that are suitable for anyone undergoing cancer treatment (plus those supporting them), and for those who are recovering from or living with cancer. Made for Life Organics, part of the Made for Life Foundation, was the first UK skin care company to achieve 100% organic certification across the entire collection from the Soil Association. Every product has been made by hand in Cornwall using organically-cultivated herbs, flowers and oils, ensuring that they provide relief to even the most sensitive and sensitised skins.
The aim of the Made for Life Foundation is to provide support for those going through cancer – and their carers – and to educate spas and therapists on how to deliver safe and nurturing spa treatments to clients at any stage of cancer. Their programme has been developed in liaison with oncologists, surgeons and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Spa Director Davina Hassell comments: ‘I’m delighted with the very comprehensive training we have received from the Made for Life team. We’ve already been overwhelmed by the response from cancer sufferers, and those in recovery, who have previously been turned away from other spas.’
There are three Cancer Touch Therapy treatments available:
Catch the Breath – a nurturing treatment for the head, back and shoulders, encouraging a meditative state of relaxation. Tui Na Chinese massage rebalances and calms the upper body. The ritual uses extremely slow, soothing and rhythmic techniques. £45; 35 minutes.
Soothe & Nurture – a facial that restores the natural luminosity of the skin; 100% organic balms and oils will nourish and cleanse, eliminating congestion and returning natural balance to the skin, whilst a deeply relaxing face and scalp massage calms the mind and soothes the soul. £45; 35 minutes.
Hand on Heart – a calming treatment for the head, face, back and shoulders. Slow Tui Na Chinese massage techniques rebalance and calm the upper body while the face massage will replenish, nourish and revive the skin and ease tension. £75 / £95; 60 / 90 minutes.
Following a £3M refurbishment, Seaham Hall has 21 suites, two restaurants, and 37 acres of blissful grounds. The 44,000 sq ft Serenity Spa has a 20-metre pool, 17 therapy rooms, a hammam with walk-in snail showers, an ice fountain, a sanarium with crystal light therapy, a black granite steam room with amethyst crystal, outdoor hot tubs, and much more. Many of the treatments offered here are Asian-based, using high-quality organic products to help clients de-stress in a calming and luxurious environment.
Seaham Hall is under three hours by train from central London, and by car is just 20 minutes from Durham, 40 minutes from Newcastle, 90 minutes from Edinburgh and less than three hours from Manchester. The hotel’s close proximity to Newcastle is also ideal for those travelling from international destinations, via Newcastle airport and/or the North East Ferry Port.
