Little-big adventures with Artisan Travel

Our Stories

Craving adventure but short on holiday time? These NEW mini summer trips with Artisan Travel should satisfy even the most stir-crazy…

Search for the Midnight Sun, Finland

The adventure: Capture perfect shots of the Midnight Sun with a photography expert. Head out on foot through forests to the Sarmi Wilderness Lodge on the edge of Lake Sarmi to experience a night in the wilderness. There’s no running water at the lodge, so taking a swim under the Midnight Sun is a must. Go berry picking at midnight and fish on the lake and, if you’re lucky enough to catch something, enjoy cooking it over an open fire later.

The lowdown: The three-night trip costs £895 pp (two sharing) including flights (London), transfers, lodge accommodation, most meals, two Midnight Sun photography workshops, wilderness lodge hike, fishing and berry picking. Departures available until 30 July.

Kayak & sea safari, Norway

The adventure: Cruise into the Norwegian fjords, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and beautiful green fields. Whizz over the ocean in a high speed RIB to the island of Runde, home to a sanctuary with over 500,000 birds and a large colony of seals. Paddle in a sea kayak through the waters around Ålesund, rich with marine life.

The lowdown: The five-night trip costs £1,320 pp (two sharing) including flights (London), transfers, hotel B&B accommodation, one lunch and all activities above. Departures until 20 August.

Escape to the Yukon, Canada

The adventure: Learn how mushers train their dogs during the summer, hike to see the spectacular Miles Canyon Basalts or meet a Master Carver and his team as they work on traditional totem poles and masks. Take off from the water in a float plane, offering unrestricted views over the peaks, tundra and lakes below. Go kayaking on Tagish Lake, where moose, caribou, bear, lynx and beaver may be spotted, or try your hand at fishing.

The lowdown: The six-night trip costs £1,850 pp (two sharing) including transfers, log cabin and hotel accommodation, most meals and two float plane roundtrips. Flights and other activities extra. Departures until 30 September.

Sail & fish, Norway

The adventure: On board a luxury catamaran, sail to the majestic Lyngen Alps and the stunning Lyngenfjord, where the Northern Lights will hopefully be witnessed from the fly bridge. Learn how and where to catch the best fish – a long-standing tradition here – before enjoying a seafood dinner later. Spot eagles, porpoises and seals while sailing, and go hiking through a beautiful valley to reach a glacier.

The low down: The five-night trip costs £3,549 pp (two sharing) including flights (London), transfers, hotel and catamaran B&B accommodation, eight other meals, fishing trip, hiking or sailing tour. Departures from 16 August to 12 October.

Search for bears, Finland

The adventure: Head deep into the forest to a hide in the hope of spotting a brown bear. Brown bears are a common sighting, so keep eyes peeled during the overnight stay. Opt to track the bears on a hiking tour, take a bike ride through the forest or join the Elk Safari, where there’s a chance to see wild forest reindeer, eagles and wolverines, too.

The lowdown: The three-night trip costs £836 pp (two sharing) including flights (London), transfers, hotel B&B accommodation, three other meals, a visit to Petola Nature Centre and an overnight stay in an animal hide. Other activities extra. Departures until 30 October.

Travel PR are a joy to work with. They understand their clients and media contacts well, and are always super-responsive when needed. I always take notice when they contact me as they never waste my time with anything irrelevant. All in all, a great team who have my trust and respect.
