Kirker releases new dedicated Italy brochure

Our Stories
Kirker Venice Italy

Kirker features enticing tailor-made itineraries… and an expanded collection of exceptional hotels.

Kirker ( has launched a dedicated Italy brochure for the first time since 2019, filled with superb short breaks and tailor-made itineraries for discerning travellers. Encompassing classic cities, coastal and countryside stays, and featuring a range of hand-picked accommodation – including some fabulous new properties – the new brochure is testament to Kirker’s infinite passion for Italy.

Ted Wake, Managing Director of Kirker, comments“Whilst we have been travelling to Italy for decades, we will never tire of revisiting the classic cities of Venice, Florence and Rome, and take great pride in introducing our latest discoveries. From charming pensioni to luxurious five-star palazzi, we have worked with a wide range of hotels for many years, and we continue to revisit our favourites, time-and-time again. In all our destinations, our relationships with hotels and suppliers ensure that Kirker guests receive the very warmest welcome.”

For those seeking to experience a classic Italian city break in 2024, Kirker suggests:

Sicily, Italy

In Venice, the new season at La Fenice includes a return of the same production of La Traviata which inaugurated the rebuilt Opera House in 2004. New for 2024, Kirker offers the four-star hotel Ca Maria Adele, set in the peaceful Dorsoduro neighbourhood, just steps from the iconic church of Santa

Maria della Salute, featuring just 12 bedrooms in an exquisitely restored palazzo. The design is lavish and ornate and perfectly combines the traditional with the contemporary. Guests can enjoy breakfast, afternoon tea and aperitifs in one of the stylish reception rooms or on the small roof terrace. Three nights from £1,098 pp*.

In Rome, Kirker recommends moving away from the more prominent tourist sights and visiting lesser-known private museums such as the wonderful Palazzo Colonna or Doria Pamphilij. The 55-room Monti Palace is new to the Kirker programme for 2024. Located in the middle of the picturesque Monti district, guests have but a short walk to the Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum and fabulous shopping streets. Behind the hotel, Via Urbana is a buzzy street, brimming with appealing restaurants, bars, boutiques and art galleries. Three nights from £736 pp*.

Italy’s smaller cities – including BolognaVerona and Turin – offer enormously rewarding short breaks and benefit from having only a fraction of the crowds pouring into the larger cities, as do the historic trading cities of NaplesPalermoGenoa and Trieste. Kirker experts recommend discovering mediaeval Siena; paying a visit to the culinary centre of Parma; the university town of Modena, birthplace of Pavarotti and Ferrari; the hillside town of Urbino in Le Marche; and Ravenna, the last capital of the Western Roman Empire.

Puglia, Italy

Consider, too, Italy’s glorious coastal towns, its undulating countryside, and its stunning islands, for a relaxing summer or autumn holiday. For 2024, Kirker introduces a number of new properties, including:

Posta Marcucci – A family-owned property with a spa, centred around three natural, mineral-rich, healing springs surrounded by a tree-lined garden. Guest rooms are decorated in a classical style and the hotel’s restaurant serves authentic Tuscan cuisine. Three nights from £798 pp*.

Masseria Fano  A rural retreat on a 40-hectare working olive farm. Eight simply yet elegantly furnished suites surround a watchtower dating back to 1577. There is a natural swimming pool in the garden, and guests can enjoy wine tasting, private cooking classes, and delicious local cuisine using homemade olive oil. Three nights from £846 pp*.

Palazzo Vecchio – Housed in a striking Gothic-Catalan tower that rises above Taormina, you can easily imagine the views of Etna and coastline from the terrace of the hotel’s rooftop ‘Blue Sky Bar’. Just 12 bedrooms are decorated in contemporary, Baroque, or Arabic style, and spread across three floors. Traditional Sicilian cuisine is served in the elegant ‘Monsu’ restaurant, and a professional private spa beckons. Three nights from £1,398 pp*.

Palazzo Artimede – Centrally located on Ortigia Island, adjacent to Syracuse Cathedral and the Piazza del Duomo, the hotel has 40 contemporary rooms, many of which overlook the island’s narrow streets and rooftops. In addition to the main restaurant, guests can also dine al fresco on Piazza Minerva, where light meals and cocktails are served. Three nights from £998 pp*.

Cala Cuncheddi – Set in six hectares of grounds, and only 30 metres from a beautiful beach, Cala Cuncheddi is constructed over three floors, designed to blend in to the natural topography. Bedrooms are decorated in an elegant modern style, and facilities include two restaurants, a spa, and a large freshwater swimming pool with a magnificent sea view. Three nights from £758 pp*. Hotel open until 27 October.

Torreruja, Isola Rossa  A charming four-star hotel located in the village of Isola Rossa – with its distinctive Aragonese Tower and seafront promenade – providing a great base from which to explore the pristine beaches of the north-west coast. There is a thalassotherapy spa, a swimming pool, and the town’s sandy beach is just 200 metres from the hotel. Three nights from £668 pp*. Hotel open until 6 October.

Miramare Art, Cagliari  Set in the heart of the marina district, and just five minutes’ walk from the old town, this unique boutique hotel – formerly a 10th-century palace – has 20 characterful bedrooms featuring brightly painted walls, murals, chandeliers and antique beds. The hotel’s splendid garden showcases over 100 species of flowers and plants. Three nights from £698 pp*.

The dedicated Italy brochure highlights suggested itineraries for those wishing to explore more than one destination. Three of these holidays use high-speed Italian rail for a multi-centre itinerary, and there are options for flight-free travel to Italy by International Rail, delivering simply huge reductions in carbon footprints.

For those celebrating a special occasion, anniversary, or simply looking for a truly memorable holiday in 2024 or 2025, a journey on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express might be just the ticket. For 2025, Kirker will also be offering tailor-made itineraries which include Italy’s new luxury rail experience, La Dolce Vita Orient Express, designed to evoke the Italian style of the 1950s and 1960s. From its base in Rome, the train will visit destinations from Venice, Piedmont and Porto in the north, to Siena and the vineyards of Tuscany, and south to Basilicata, Puglia and Sicily. There are 31 private cabins and suites on board, as well as a stylish dining car and sleek lounge bar with panoramic windows.

Prices start from £4,876 pp* for a three-night holiday including one night on board La Dolce Vita Orient Express, flights to Rome, private transfers, and two nights’ accommodation with breakfast staying at the 5* Regina Baglioni in Rome. All meals, selected drinks and excursions are included on La Dolce Vita. An overview of the 2025 departure dates can be found online here.
