Iran joins Voyages Jules Verne’s World of Wonders

Eight-night ‘Return to Persepolis’ itinerary features alongside new escorted tours to India, Italy, Russia, Thailand & Laos

The new eight-night itinerary, ‘Return to Persepolis’, which features in the latest edition of VJV’s popular brochure – out now – has been introduced following improved diplomatic relations and Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) clearance on travel to this fascinating country, as well as the addition of a convenient new direct British Airways flight to Tehran.

Retrace Iran’s rich past with visits to Pasargadae (the city founded by Cyrus), Persepolis (founded by his successor Darius), Isfahan (Iran’s 16^th century capital and the most perfect of the Safavid cities), Shiraz (city of ‘wine, roses and poets’) and Tehran, the modern-day capital, with its Archaeological and Ethnological Museum. During the tour, VJV clients will also enjoy a traditional Persian meal at a family home, giving an intriguing insight into local life.

Mountain Island Lake: Often overlooked in favour of its better-known neighbours – Como, Maggiore and Garda – Lake Iseo offers spectacular views of Monte Isola and a charming opportunity to step back in time: traffic is not allowed here, so exploration by boat or on foot of its 11 pretty villages and ports is the order of the day. Lake Iseo is also superbly located for excursions to the Franciacorte wine region, the eastern lakes of Lombardy, the small enchanting lakes of Ledro and Idro, and the historic cities of Brescia and Mantua.

Mekong Explorer: Sail from Thailand’s Golden Triangle through Laos, along one of the world’s great rivers, on a new Pandaw cruise. Travelling on the RV Laos Pandaw, a low-draught vessel that enables passage into parts of the river rendered inaccessible to larger boats, this cruise focuses on the Mekong’s more northerly and dramatic landscapes.
