Exhilarating ice driving in Sweden – with Classic Grand Touring

Specialist driving tours company, Classic Grand Touring, is organising three exhilarating ice-driving trips in Sweden in February 2017

Classic Grand Touring offers both bespoke and pre-arranged tours to the finest motoring events around the world, and ice driving is particularly popular – hence three departure dates for 2017.

Says Managing Director, Thomas Brimblecombe: “Ice Driving is certainly not for the faint-hearted – driving flat out on a frozen lake in the middle of Sweden really tests your driving skills – but it’s by far the most fun you can have on four wheels!

Situated close to the border with Norway, the stunning frozen lake where the trips take place is near the tiny village of Rorbacksnas, not far from the ski resort of Salen, Sweden.

All guests have two full days of ice driving* on the lake including rally car sessions** in either a Subaru or Mitsubishi. Initial tuition is with a professional driving coach in three different cars – a front-wheel drive (FWD), a rear-wheel drive (RWD) and a four-wheel drive (4WD), in order to gain the best experience possible.

Guests are then free to enjoy the various cars all day long. At the end of the weekend, there is a timed test to assess how well everyone has mastered the art of driving at speed on ice. Guests also have the chance to try out some ice go-karting.

These three-night trips cost from £1,350 pp (two sharing), including B&B accommodation at the Kjolen Hotel (just over the border in Norway), two full days’ driving on the lake including rally car sessions (in a Subaru or Mitsubishi), professional driving tuition on the lake, use of ice go-karts, airport & lake transfers, two lunches & three dinners, plus return flights to Oslo International (London Gatwick).

The three trips in 2017 are from 7 to 10 February, 10 to 13 February and 13 to 16 February.

*Classic Grand Touring allocates two people per car so that in-car time is maximised over the two days on the lake.

**Each guest will enjoy 40 minutes in a fully rally-prepared Subaru or Mitsubishi.
