Our Stories
Hoshino Resorts

Travel PR is delighted to announce that it is now representing Hoshino Resorts Inc.

The award-winning Japanese hospitality brand, Hoshino Resorts, operates 37 hotels (35 in Japan, plus one each in Bali and Tahiti), primarily under the four brands of HOSHINOYA, KAI, RISONARE and OMO, together with other unique lodgings.

HOSHINOYA is Hoshino Resorts’ flagship luxury brand, with six properties (five in Japan plus one in Bali).  Each hotel provides an authentic Japanese experience for guests, with modern comfort and contemporary Japanese design combined with exemplary Japanese hospitality and a special location, be it a mountain, river, or coastal setting.

KAI properties provide an authentic hot spring ryokan (inn) experience for guests. Every establishment offers a contemporary take on a traditional Japanese inn, offering a range of immersive Japanese experiences based on local Japanese craftsmanship. There are currently 14 KAI properties in Japan, with a 15th due to launch in July 2018.

Perfect for families, the three RISONARE properties offer an array of activities for the whole family to enjoy together. Each hotel provides a mix of dining experiences, relaxing spas and supervised children’s activities.

The NEW OMO properties are urban-based mid-range hotels aimed at leisure travellers. The first two properties have just launched: OMO5 Tokyo Otsuka and OMO7 Asahikawa. The mid-range hotels are aimed at leisure travellers seeking a more personal experience in a convenient city-centre location close to shops, restaurants, museums and other points of interest.

Hoshino Resorts’ properties remain deeply rooted in Japanese culture, their natural surroundings and the changing seasons. Key to all the hotels is Omotenashi (Japanese hospitality), with an emphasis on local culture and traditions.

The cuisine at Hoshino Resorts centres around authentic Japanese ingredients, often with a modern twist.  For instance, the restaurant at HOSHINOYA Tokyo has developed a new culinary style, Nippon Cuisine, which fuses French techniques and Japanese ingredients. Guests can experience local culture and traditions, including a traditional tea ceremony, a kimono experience, bathing in an open-air onsen (natural hot-spring bath), early morning Zen meditation, sunrise yoga and traditional crafts such as parquetry (intricate wooden carvings on boxes and other objects), papermaking and camellia dyeing/oil making from local indigenous flowers.

Japan is certainly enjoying the spotlight at present as it shines on the country ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Japan leads the way in culinary tourism, too, with its growing collection of Michelin three-star restaurants (28 – the highest number with three stars in the world, only awarded to restaurants offering exceptional cuisine worth a special journey).
