Seaham Hall

Go on a brilliantly-British road trip with two luxury boutique hotels

Our Stories
Seaham Hall's Georgian facade

The perfect spring or summer short break: take in the very best of the North East and North Yorkshire while cruising from one boutique hotel to the next on this new four-night luxury hotel road trip from just £550 pp.

This British road trip getaway includes two nights at each of Georgian delight Seaham Hall in Durham and the stone-built Feversham Arms Hotel in North Yorkshire, with an unhurried drive between the two boutique establishments – from the beautiful, rugged Durham Heritage Coast to the picturesque and tranquil North Yorkshire Moors – complete with fascinating local sites, beautiful scenery, homemade picnics, delicious meals and plenty of spa relaxation built in. Drive your own car or, if you prefer, Seaham Hall can arrange for you to be collected from Durham station (three hours by train from London) and recommend a number of luxury hire car companies to organise a one-way car hire for your break.

The Hotels:

With a striking cliff-top position, Seaham Hall is situated within 37 acres of landscaped gardens (just 20 minutes from the cultural delights of Durham), with two restaurants (modern British and Pan-Asian) and an impressive 44,000 sq ft spa. Here, guests will stay in a Garden Suite, complete with a separate seating area, plus outdoor garden and terrace, and will enjoy daily breakfast and a three-course evening meal at the award-winning Byron’s Bar & Grill. Guests will also have full use of the Serenity Spa, which features a large indoor pool, outdoor hot tubs and hammam with snail showers – with a whole host of treatments from which to choose.

The Feversham Arms Hotel is a contemporary country retreat, with log fires, in-house art gallery and cocktail bar. Located in the timeless market town of Helmsley, and just 30 minutes from the buzzing regional capital of York, guests will stay in a Deluxe Room with separate sitting room, walk-in shower and double ended bath, and enjoy daily breakfast and a three-course evening meal at its award-winning restaurant. Guests will also have full use of the Verdana Spa, complete with an outdoor heated pool and Mediterranean-style terrace.

The Road Trip:

Between the relaxing stays, enjoy a leisurely drive to the next destination. On departure from the first hotel, guests will be provided with a picnic blanket and an indulgent hamper packed with freshly-baked goodies, homemade sandwiches and other treats to savour en route.

The drive (approx. 1.5 hours) will take you along the coast, on pretty winding roads and across the spectacular moors. Stop off and visit Castle Howard’s wonderfully-grand interiors and gardens, and the fascinating open-air Beamish Museum, set in 300 acres of Durham countryside – both great spots to set up a picnic. Or why not take a detour and visit the Angel of the North, Hadrian’s Wall or take a walk to Billsdale, the most westerly dale on the North Yorkshire Moors?

The Special Driving Break costs from £550 pp (two sharing), including two nights’ stay at each hotel, half a bottle of Champagne to share on arrival at both hotels, daily breakfasts, three-course dinners each evening, full use of spa facilities plus tickets to Castle Howard and the Beamish Museum for two people.

Overnight rates at Seaham Hall start from £175 B&B per room per night (two sharing) and the hotel offers exclusive hire options for wedding parties, including its extensive and very photogenic terrace and 37-acre gardens.  Seaham Hall is just three hours by train from London King’s Cross, and the hotel can arrange for your collection by car on arrival and for a one-way hire car for use on the driving short break should you decide to travel to Durham by rail.
