Due to the sell-out success of the first session last week, The Alexandra Hotel and Restaurant has announced plans to host monthly cocktail-making masterclasses. The boutique bolthole on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast has partnered with mixologist Lloyd Brown. Brown excels at combining spirits from well-known distillers including Sipsmith with locally-sourced ingredients and spirits such as Dorset-based Liberty Fields, to bring out the best possible flavours.

Master Mixology Cocktail Evenings – from £20 per person

Dorset-based mixologist extraordinaire Brown will showcase three inspiring cocktails and explain the history of gin and vodka, the art of mixology and what makes a great cocktail. Locally made spirits which will feature in the cocktails over the months include Black Cow Vodka (Beaminster), Liberty Fields Apple Aperitif and Porters Perfection Vodka (Bridport), Conker Gin (Bournemouth) and Somerset Cider Brandy (South Somerset). The Master Mixology Cocktail Evenings (23 March, 20 April, 25 May, 22 June, 27 July, 31 August and 28 September) cost £20 per person, including three cocktails and nibbles.

Master Mixology Cocktail Weekend Break – from £225 per person

Spend a weekend soaking up the salty sea air. A two-night Master Mixology Cocktail Break (23 & 24 February) costs from £450 total/£225 per person (two sharing) including two nights’ accommodation, full English breakfast each morning, the Master Mixology Cocktail Evening and a three-course dinner on one evening.

Master Mixology dates: 23 March, 20 April, 25 May, 22 June, 27 July, 31 August and 28 September

The Alexandra Hotel and Restaurant is Grade-II listed and has 23-individually-designed bedrooms, including a sumptuous suite (The Countess’s Room) with a bay window and sweeping sea views. The hotel has been decorated in keeping with its coastal location and in-room amenities include ammonite-fossil-shaped chocolates and marine-extract toiletries.
