Fun for all the family in La Plagne this winter

Our Stories

Pack up the thermals, dust off the salopettes and make memories to last a lifetime at the world’s most-visited ski resort.

La Plagne enjoys its world-famous family-friendly reputation for a reason; half the resort’s ski runs are beginner and intermediate and the rest are advanced, so all levels and abilities are catered for. There are 18 fun zones which feature bridges, tunnels, and interactive sounds, plus many other exciting activities to keep everyone entertained – from ice climbing to festivals in the snow.

For families of all ages to enjoy…

A family-friendly fun slope: Located on a blue run, La Plagne’s fun slope is the longest in Europe at 1.6 km. Perfect for all ages – expect interactive sounds, tunnels, bridges, raised turns and more. Gain confidence, ski safely together and, most importantly, have fun! https://en.la-plagne.com/discover/ski-area/fun-slope

The event – Subli’cimes: Returning for the sixth year running, the family-favourite Subli’cimes festival will take place from 9 to 15 April 2020. Five different peaks will be given an offbeat makeover to fit this year’s theme of ‘around the world’ and will play host to a programme of fun – and free – activities, ranging from live music, traditional alpine food and drink plus wellness workshops and interactive games. You don’t even have to ski – 80% of it is accessible to non-skiers. https://en.la-plagne.com/rendez-vous/rendez-vous/subli-cimes

A place to stay – Igloo Village: Spend a magical night together sleeping in giant snow domes at an altitude of 2,118 m, overlooking the Tarentaise valley. After a cheese fondue on the Dou du Praz, settle onto your bed of ice and wrap yourself up cosily in the special duvet made for extreme temperatures. Wake up to the sun hitting the peaks and watch as the slopes slowly start to come to life. From £83/€99 pp per night in a shared room for up to four people. https://www.blacksheep-igloo.com/village-igloo-blacksheep-de-la-plagne-savoie/

For teens and adults…

NEW: Non-skiing activity – ‘Snooc’-ing: The ‘snooc’, a ski/sled hybrid, used as an alternative to a toboggan, is easily adapted for skiers and non-skiers alike. It is easy to get started on, simple to control and great fun. La Plagne is the first resort to open a specific run just for ‘snooc’-ing, but it can also be used on ski runs and for ski-touring. Using the short lightweight skis attached to the snooc, hike to the top then enjoy a thrilling, go-kart style ride down the mountain. Minimum height 1m 40. From £6/€7. Visit La Plagne’s website for more information.

Fun

Bobsleigh: Enjoy an adrenaline-pumping bobsleigh ride down the Olympic skeleton track as a family. Take the same route as the professionals and reach 80 km/h on the fastest section of the descent. Don’t worry – there are no skills required, as the raft brakes and steers itself, so you can sit back, ‘relax’ and enjoy the thrill! Minimum height 1m 30. Priced From £41/€48. Visit La Plagne’s website for more information.

Fun

Ice Climbing: Defy the laws of gravity and feel like a superhero in training while climbing a 22 m ice tower. Equipped with harness, crampons, ice axe, helmet and advice from experienced mountain guide, Damien Souvy, ascend the frozen walls and enjoy a thrilling buzz when you reach the top. Available Tuesdays and Thursdays, minimum requirement size 37 shoes. Priced from £38/€45. Visit La Plagne’s website for more information.
