Wonderful English weddings with the Eden Hotel Collection

The Eden Hotel Collection, a privately-owned portfolio of beautiful properties in the UK, picks five fabulous venues in which to say “I do”.

Dreamy Devonshire weddings at Bovey Castle

Set in 275 acres of undulating countryside within Dartmoor National Park, Bovey Castle is a luxurious country estate with 60 bedrooms and 22 lodges – the perfect setting for a country wedding. The hotel suits ceremonies of all sizes in a variety of superb locations in and around the estate. From the imposing formality of the double-height Cathedral Room in the main house, to a more informal outdoor ceremony on the lawn; no two weddings are the same. It is also possible to hire the property exclusively as Olympian Tom Daley did recently when he tied the knot with Dustin Lance Black at Bovey Castle.

The castle’s talented Head Chef Mark Budd, has a passion for provenance and incorporates the best-quality local produce into his bespoke wedding menus. The hotel’s flagship restaurant the Great Western, which Mark heads up, has recently been awarded three rosettes by the AA for its culinary excellence.

Well-known for outdoor pursuits, including falconry, the hotel can even arrange for owls to act as ring bearers on the big day!

LEAD-IN PRICES: Wedding packages start from £160 pp, with intimate packages (10 guests) priced from £1,800 in total. For further details, or to book a private viewing, please contact the wedding team on 01647 445 098 or visit www.boveycastle.com.

Licensed to hold civil ceremonies for two to 90 guests in a choice of elegant rooms, from intimate and informal gatherings, to large and lavish celebrations, the hotel can even organise a horse and carriage from St Cassian’s church in the nearby village of Chaddesley Corbett so that couples arrive in style.

When I first started out travel writing, twenty years ago, I was writing a weekly round-up for The Independent. The first PR agency I ever tapped into for their clients' holiday ideas was Travel PR; they were always full of great suggestions for the column and responded quickly. Over the years, I've worked with them on many occasions and their close association with AITO has always paid dividends. Nothing has changed; some of the best story ideas I get herald from them, and their response time remains very speedy. They are a pleasure to work with.
