NEW / EXCLUSIVE: ‘Les Envers’ chairlift
Continuing to improve skier flow out of Plagne Montalbert, 2016/17 sees the launch of a brand-new six-seat detachable chairlift, the first of its kind in a ski resort. Features include an attractive “light” look for the departure and arrival stations, redesigned curved seats and better passenger safety and comfort with innovative safety bars. Capacity: 2,400 people/hr, with maximum capacity of 3,000 people/hr at full speed.
NEW: No more grooming on the Glacier
Due to demand, the Glacier de la Chiaupe, at 3,250 metres, is getting a whole new look. It will no longer be groomed – instead, skiers will enjoy five natural runs that are safe but ungroomed, called ‘Pistes Natur’. This will mean a natural descent on powder snow that is more of a challenge than a groomed run for those with ski experience.
NEW: Family Fun Run
The ski area has gained a new family fun run made up of modules such as tunnels, jumps, raised bends, bridges and interactive elements – something for everyone to enjoy. The run, open to all, is at the top of St Jacques’ blue run on the Plagne-Bellecôte sector.
NEW EVENT: 1st Superslalom by Julian Lizeroux – 1 April 2017
Amateur and experienced skiers will pitch themselves against pros from the world of international skiing on the world’s longest slalom course! The brainchild of slalom champion Julian Lizeroux and Julian Régnier, pioneer of freestyle and back-country skiing, the route will encompass a 4 km descent and 320 poles, with 400 participants taking part. More details coming soon.
