Extremadura Recipe – Tomato Soup with Figs

Extremadura is a stunning and relatively little-known region in southwest Spain, nestled alongside the Portuguese border and easily accessible from Madrid, Seville and Lisbon. Apart from a rich history – Romans, Christians, Moors and Sephardic Jews, this region is deeply rooted in agriculture, which is reflected in its modern take on traditional gastronomy.

A full Extremaduran menu will be available from 20^th to 27^th March at Pizarro Restaurant (194 Bermondsey Street, SE1 3TQ), while José’s two other restaurants – José Tapas (104 Bermondsey Street, SE1 3UB) and José Pizarro Broadgate (36 Broadgate Circle, EC2M 2QS) will be serving special tapas from Extremadura.

Diners at Pizarro, the chef’s flagship restaurant, will have a chance to enter a prize draw to win a trip to Extremadura. The lucky winners will be offered a three-night stay for two people, including 4-star accommodation, flights, car hire and a guided tour.
