History at your fingertips

History lovers should head to Tolon in the North Peloponnese, which is a lovely old-fashioned seaside resort that’s only a half-hour’s drive from Epidaurus, famed for its ancient amphitheatre. Other sites include Ancient Assini, walkable from Tolon, and Nemea with its ancient stadium, tunnel and adjacent Temple of Zeus. Nafplion, Greece’s first independent capital, is just 20 minutes away.

There’s a choice of hotels in resort; enjoy the town’s Easter festivities based at the Arethusa Apartments for £1,218 pp for seven nights’ self-catering with international flights (London) and transfers departing 12 April, or travel out on 21 April to stay at the Romvi Hotel from £780 pp for seven nights’ B&B accommodation, including return flights (London) and transfers.

Spring into the lap of luxury
