Bude scooped the coveted Gold Award for the Best UK Coastal Resort at this year’s British Travel Awards – for the second year in a row. Idyllically situated in a peaceful valley, Bluebell Chy* (sleeps six) is a classic Cornish Cottage brimming with character and luxury touches. There are two sitting rooms with inglenook fireplaces, while the master bedroom boasts an elegant roll top bath. The pretty property overlooks established private gardens leading down to a stream and there are lovely country walks straight from the doorstep. If venturing further afield, there are numerous beaches and coves a short drive away (look out for Crackington Haven, Widemouth Bay and Sandymouth). A week’s stay at Bluebell Chy (sleeps six) costs from £149 pp (£893 total).

St Ives continues to be a popular holiday destination owing to its bustling working harbour, sheltered sandy beaches and quaint narrow lanes hiding myriad restaurants and cosy cafés. Additionally, its reputation as Cornwall’s creative hub continues to go from strength to strength. The original gallery at Tate St Ives reopens on 31 March, followed by a brand-new long-awaited gallery extension in the autumn (date TBC). Stay in a prime position above the harbour at Onshore Apartment (sleeps six), a spacious pet-friendly property with floor-to-ceiling windows to admire the expansive views, plus an outdoor terrace for those all-important al-fresco drinks. Harbour Beach is moments from the door. A week’s stay at Onshore Apartment (sleeps six) costs from £148 pp (£885 total).

Located on the outskirts of St Ives, Carbis Bay is an ideal base for those looking for a quieter, more relaxed pace of life. Stay at Greenburrow (sleeps eight), a spacious detached property overlooking the golden sands of Carbis Bay Beach. Ideal for family gatherings or a group of friends, it has a superb open-plan entertaining space and there’s a large gently-sloping garden leading straight on to the coastal footpath. A week’s stay at Greenburrow (sleeps eight) costs from £124 pp (£992 total).

Castle Cottage: stay in a Cornish former fisherman’s cottage in Port Isaac, North Cornwall

Port Isaac is well known for being the filming location for the Doc Martin TV series, not to mention being home to Michelin-starred chef Nathan Outlaw and his flagship restaurant. There’s a good reason for its popularity; narrow winding streets lined with whitewashed cottages tumble down to the picturesque working harbour where local fishermen land their daily catch of fish, crab and lobsters. Castle Cottage (sleeps four) is a charming former fisherman’s cottage with glorious views of the harbour and Doc Martin’s house. Once inside, it’s light and airy with an open-plan living area, characterful beamed ceilings and a cosy wood burner. A four-night short break at Castle Cottage (sleeps four) costs from £98 pp (£392 total).

As well as over 70 new cottages for 2017, Aspects Holidays is pleased to announce the opening of two new offices – in Bude (opened 9 December) and Mevagissey (spring 2017), bringing the total number of Aspects’ offices to six. The new offices mean there are now even more helpful people to advise on the best things to see and do in the area and answer any queries. As Aspects Holidays’ specialist self-catering portfolio continues to expand, here’s a taster of what to expect in Mevagissey:

Pencarrow apartment: stunning sea views in Mevagissey, South Cornwall

Best known for its unspoilt harbour and bobbing fishing boats, Mevagissey is still part of Cornwall’s thriving fishing industry and fresh fish can be bought from the hut on the harbour wall. Pencarrow (sleeps four) is an impressive property perched right above the harbour with stunning sea views across to the Fowey estuary. It has recently been refurbished with impeccable attention to detail and boasts a large open plan living space, a wonderful window seat with sea views and a wine fridge. A week’s stay at Pencarrow (sleeps four) costs from £115 pp (£460 total).
