Summer of ’17

Head to the glorious Durham coast for some
seriously sophisticated summer playtime

  • Grown-Up Ice Cream Cabin

  • Summer Seaside Afternoon Tea

  • A Spiffing Seaside Escape – the most marvellous two-night break!

Five-star Seaham Hall has been planning the Summer of ’17 for some time and has three sophisticated and exciting new opportunities for both visitors and overnight guests.  Launching on the longest day, 21st June, here’s how the Seaham team will be celebrating British summertime in style:

Grown-Up Ice Cream Cabin

This summer, Seaham Hall launches an ice cream experience with a difference.  Aimed squarely at the grown-ups, visitors can choose between an array of creatively-flavoured regular ice creams, boozy liquid nitrogen ice creams, and a range of enticing frozen cocktails (or mocktails).

Chilled delights include Tahitian vanilla ice cream, with roasted hazelnut, Tonka bean and Ethiopian coffee, or a non-alcholic infusion of garden herbs and botanicals with sea buckthorn juice, sweetened with fresh sugar cane juice.  Certificate 18 alcoholic indulgences range from Facundo Paraiso Rum, with brown sugar and roasted apples, to Summer Garden liquid nitrogen ice cream featuring that seasonal stalwart, Pimms, with Beefeater 1970 Gin, smashed cucumber, Vietnamese mint and mara de bois cut with lovage, borage and bergamot tea.

Enjoy a choice of any two from the wide range of ice creams, liquid nitrogen ice creams and frozen cocktails / mocktails for £20. Available Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer.  See here for the full menu.

Summer Seaside Afternoon Tea

Midsummer’s Day will also see the launch of a newly-designed luxury Afternoon Tea which takes its inspiration from features that are emblematic of the British seaside.  The charming teatime treats include classic sandwiches, cakes featuring candyfloss, colourful ‘rock’ and bijoux ice cream sundaes – all accompanied by a bottle of Taittinger Rosé Champagne.  Nothing could be finer than to take this new afternoon tea on Seaham Hall’s fabulous beach terrace overlooking the Durham Heritage Coastline.

Summer Seaside Afternoon Tea is £150 for two including a bottle of Taittinger Rosé Champagne and a choice of specialist infusions (£35pp without the Champagne). Available daily from 21st June until 31st August 2017 – book one week in advance.

A Spiffing Seaside Escape: two nights, a vintage car, a luxury picnic and more…

For exceptional indulgence, the Spiffing Seaside Escape package has all the bells and whistles.  This two-night stay includes a day’s hire of a splendid vintage Jaguar E Type, together with a luxury picnic hamper brimming with locally-inspired delicacies, a map of nearby hidden gems and scenic picnic spots away from the hoi polloi, a rug for kicking back on and entrance to the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, should one feel the urge to absorb some culture.  Coupled with accommodation in a delightful suite, dinner at Byron’s Restaurant on the first night and full use of the superb Spa, this really is the way to indulge oneself this summer!

A Spiffing Seaside Escape costs £1,500 (based on two people sharing), subject to availability. Terms and conditions apply for car rental. Valid 21st June – 30th September.
