Autumn & Winter Eden Hotel Collection

Our Stories
Kings Exterior

A new hotel launch, a pop-up library, late-check outs and Christmas – all with the Eden Hotel Collection

The Eden Hotel Collection, a privately-owned portfolio of eight beautiful properties in the UK, has plenty going on this autumn & winter:

November opening for Arden House in Stratford-Upon Avon

Eden Hotel Collection’s new property, Arden House in Stratford-Upon-Avon, is opening in November and will be an intimate, boutique sister property to The Arden Hotel. With a relaxed home-from-home atmosphere, guests are invited to sit around an informal dining table during breakfast and to join fellow guests for afternoon tea or evening drinks (5 pm is gin o’clock) if they so wish. With a relaxed vibe throughout the property, help yourself to treats from the pantry or from the honesty bar whilst enjoying the home-from-home surroundings. Though Arden House is a world away from a traditional hotel environment, every need will be catered for by the dedicated house hosts. To book call 01789 298 682 (www.ardenhousestratford.com).

Roald Dahl Pop-Up Library and kids stay free at Bovey Castle

Roald DahlDuring September and October (including October half-term), Bovey Castle on Dartmoor in Devon is launching a Roald Dahl Pop-Up Library consisting of Dahl’s most well-known works as part of national celebrations for his 100th birthday. Children will be able to choose between classics such as Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr Fox and James and the Giant Peach, with the option to borrow books for their bedtime stories. The hotel’s ‘Roald Dahl 100’ package enables children to stay for free when sharing a room with adults. A stay for a family in a Castle Room (2 adults and 1 child up to the age of 14 yrs) is from £159 per room per night, including full English breakfast and a complimentary Roald Dahl book on arrival. To book call Bovey Castle on 01647 445 007 (www.boveycastle.com).

Monday lie-ins at all Eden Hotels

Keep CalmValid throughout October and November, all Eden hotels will be offering guests who stay on a Sunday night the chance for a proper lie-in on Monday. The ‘Keep calm and pretend it’s not Monday’ initiative will span all eight hotels within the collection, treating every guest to a 1pm check out. Sample price: A Sunday night stay costs from £75 per room/£37.50 pp (two sharing) including breakfast at The Kings Hotel in Chipping Campden. With the late check out at 1pm, why not stay for lunch? See www.edenhotelcollection.com.

Autumn events at the Eden Hotel Collection

A busy autumn social programme across the hotels includes a Harvest Supper at Bovey Castle (6 October; £25 pp), a Jazz Lunch at The Greenway Hotel & Spa (30 October; £39 pp) and Autumnal Bouquet, a flower arranging demonstration and lunch at Buckland Tout-Saints (8 November; £22 pp). Christmas on Dartmoor

With what could well be the tallest Christmas tree on Dartmoor, Bovey Castle is the perfect family-friendly retreat this Christmas. Festive activities include carol singers, a visit from Father Christmas and storytellers for both children and adults. A three-night Christmas at the Castle break costs from £2,500 per room (two sharing) including activities such as cider & sloe gin making, candlelit dinners, afternoon tea (plus children’s high tea), Christmas Day lunch, a scavenger hunt, guided walks, ferret racing, storytelling and more. For an unusual Christmas gift, treat someone to Bovey Castle’s new adrenaline-fuelled off-road driving experience – available as a one-hour taster (from £125 pp) or a half-day experience (from £225 pp), with safety briefing included. Based on the edge of the estate, drive one of the hotel’s fleet of Land Rover Defenders (or your own 4×4 vehicle) on a newly-constructed woodland track which includes steep inclines, descents and side slopes. To book, call Bovey Castle on 01647 445 007 (www.boveycastle.com).

Christmas in the Cotswolds

Stay in the heart of the picturesque market town of Chipping Campden this Christmas. Make your base The Kings Hotel, a characterful 18th-century Cotswold-stone townhouse. Festive dining is offered throughout December and the hotel will be decoratively dressed for the season – roaring fires await. Greet Christmas Eve with a full Cotswold afternoon tea, followed by a three-course candlelit dinner and a walk to the local church for Midnight Mass. Mulled wine and roasted chestnuts will be awaiting your return. After a full English breakfast on Christmas Day, take a walk through the Cotswold countryside to work up an appetite for a five-course Christmas Day lunch. A two-night Christmas break costs from £315 pp (two sharing). To book call The Kings Hotel on 01386 840 256 (www.kingscampden.co.uk).
