AITO Meets the Media Event

The Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) Meets the Media took place at Central Hall, Westminster, for the fourth year in a row, on Tuesday the 17th of October. There were 104 journalists in attendance, visiting 43 tables of Independent Tour Operators who were promoting destinations from around the world.
The calibre of journalists was extremely impressive this year, including editors from The Sunday Times, The Times, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, The Independent, The Mail on Sunday, The Mail, Lonely Planet Traveller, The Sunday Times Travel magazine, Tatler, National Geographic Traveller, Gentleman’s Journal, B by Norwegian, as well as a list of some of the best freelance journalists in the industry. There were also more bloggers in attendance than ever before, all of which have impressive social media and blog statistics.
AITO also announced the results of its 21st Travel Writer of the Year awards. See the results here.
Thank you to all who attended, and for the excellent feedback from journalists who have expressed how useful they found the event.

When I first started out travel writing, twenty years ago, I was writing a weekly round-up for The Independent. The first PR agency I ever tapped into for their clients' holiday ideas was Travel PR; they were always full of great suggestions for the column and responded quickly. Over the years, I've worked with them on many occasions and their close association with AITO has always paid dividends. Nothing has changed; some of the best story ideas I get herald from them, and their response time remains very speedy. They are a pleasure to work with.
