AITO Meets the Media 2019

AITO The Specialist Travel Association, held its annual Meets the Media event at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London on Tuesday 15 October. It was wonderful to see so many journalists in attendance, talking with numerous specialist travel companies and tourist boards who were promoting their new destinations and hot travel tips and trends for 2020.
The attendance was particularly impressive this year and included an excellent calibre of journalists, including travel editors from The Times, The Telegraph, The Sunday Times Travel magazine, National Geographic Traveller, Wanderlust, Press Association and Good Housekeeping, as well as some of the best freelance journalists and travel bloggers in the industry.
AITO also announced the results of its 2019 Travel Writer of the Year awards. You can see the results here.
Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to all who attended this year. We hope everyone enjoyed the event and found it useful for future collaborations.

When I first started out travel writing, twenty years ago, I was writing a weekly round-up for The Independent. The first PR agency I ever tapped into for their clients' holiday ideas was Travel PR; they were always full of great suggestions for the column and responded quickly. Over the years, I've worked with them on many occasions and their close association with AITO has always paid dividends. Nothing has changed; some of the best story ideas I get herald from them, and their response time remains very speedy. They are a pleasure to work with.
