Adventures in Vietnam – with InsideVietnam Tours
From the buzz of Hanoi to the hilltribes of Ha Giang, explore Vietnam with InsideVietnamTours
Stroll atmospheric backstreets, hike through mountains, stay in remote villages, camp near caves, enjoy cultural immersion on foot, bicycle and motorbike, and experience beach-side bliss: all on a 16-night ‘Vietnam Adventure’ with destination specialist, InsideVietnam Tours.
Begin in bustling Hanoi with a local food blogger, who will take you to the city’s hidden corners and markets to discover culinary delights and taste street food, before boarding the overnight Victoria Express bound for the mountains of the Lao Cai province in northern Vietnam. Four days of traditional culture, postcard-perfect scenery and rural lifestyles follow, accompanied by an expert guide. Meet the Dao, H’mong, Nuung, Lung Phin and Tay tribes who live near the Chinese border near Ha Giang, and stay with a family in a house on stilts.
The adventure continues in Phong Nha National Park, home to the biggest network of caves in the world, still largely unexplored. Head deep into these phenomenal caves, following the course of underground rivers to gaze in awe at the surreal geological formations. Outdoor enthusiasts will also enjoy camping out under the stars, bathing in secluded swimming holes and kayaking down jungle-lined rivers amid the park’s beautiful and diverse landscapes.
After the natural beauty of Phong Nha, get high on history with visits to Vinh Moc Tunnels (where villagers lived underground during the Vietnam-American War), the intriguing Imperial city of Hue and the picturesque coastal town of Hoi An. Take a motorbike tour around Hue’s impressive citadel and see temples and tombs. In Hoi An, marvel at former merchants’ houses and impressive architecture, and take a gentle bike ride around the surrounding paddy fields. A visit to the ancient ruins of My Son is highly recommended – or simply chill out on one of Cham Island’s deserted white-sand beaches before ending your trip with a night in cosmopolitan Ho Chi Minh for a dose of dazzling lights and fast-developing modern culture.
The 16-night ‘Vietnam Adventure’ costs from £2,400 pp (two sharing) including 16 nights’ accommodation (nine nights in hotels, two nights camping in national parks, two nights staying with a family in a local homestay and three nights on a sleeper train), breakfast daily, some lunches and dinners, domestic flights, airport transfers and guided excursions as per the itinerary. International flights extra.
