Car rally in India with Nomadic Knights - at Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Celebrate Valentine’s Day 2017 in India on a Unique Classic Car Rally

‘The Best Exotic Classic Car Rally – Rajasthan or Bust’

Lovers of classic cars and the film ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ can spend Valentine’s Day next year in India as part of a car rally tour that includes the Taj Mahal and a stay in the Rajasthan hotel used in the popular movies.

Run by adventure tour company, Nomadic Knights, and suitable for anyone with a driver’s licence and passengers with a sense of adventure, the 14-night ‘Best Exotic Classic Car Rally – Rajasthan or Bust’ tour will see guests explore the wonders of Rajasthan in the classic Indian car, the Hindustan Ambassador.

This once-in-a-lifetime escapade – ideal for couples, family teams or solo car enthusiasts – will see guests stay in desert camps, ancient forts and grand palaces across Rajasthan.

The Amby

The AmbyFondly nicknamed Amby and regarded as a definitive Indian vehicle, the Hindustan Ambassador was produced in India from 1958 to 2014 and modelled on the popular 1950s UK model, the Morris Oxford.  Epitomising the India of old, the ‘Amby’ has been popular with Indian royals and politicians for decades and is popular as a taxi across India. The end of its production two years ago may soon see the Amby slowly disappear from Indian roads, making Nomadic Knights’ 2017 rally an ideal opportunity to experience the legendary car.

The Route

The 2,360km (1,466 mile) round-trip from Delhi starts on February 13, 2017, with an indulgent Valentine’s Day dinner held the next day in the grand, 700-year-old Neemrana Fort Palace. The roving tour then takes in the colours castles and exotic charms of destinations across Rajasthan such as the vast Thar Desert, where a camel ride is included, the ‘Golden City’ of Jaisalmer, the ‘Blue City’ of Jodhpur, the tigers of Ranthambore National park, where a safari is offered, the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur and the ornate palaces of the spectacular lakeside city of Udaipur.

Jaipur and Udaipur were used as the main shoot locations for the hit 2012 movie, ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ and its 2015 sequel, with tour guests able to spend a night in the real hotel itself, the graceful Ravla Khempur near Udaipur.

A visit to the famous Taj Mahal in Agra is also included before the rally returns to Delhi.
