October 31, 2016 | Hotel de France
Travel PR is delighted to announce that it is now representing the Hotel de France, in the charming small market town of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir, on the northern edge of the Loire Valley.
The Hotel de France, in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir, has been privately and independently owned for over 100 years. With its ivy-covered Art Deco façade, a sun-drenched terrace, a superb restaurant, friendly bar, inviting swimming pool and gardens that back onto the Loir, the hotel serves as a comfortable and relaxing base from which to explore the countless delights this region has to offer.
The hotel is particularly famous for its long association with the teams, drivers and cars of the Le Mans 24 hours race. Used as a destination of choice by leaders of state, film stars and motor sport royalty, the hotel has welcomed the President of France, President Kennedy’s family, Steve McQueen, Sir Stirling Moss, OBE, and – a regular guest for the Le Mans 24 hours – Derek Bell, MBE. These are just a few names from a long list of personalities who have enjoyed the hotel’s hospitality over the years.
The welcoming hotel is also much appreciated for its ‘anything is possible’ concierge service. Activities available include vineyard tours and wine tastings, châteaux visits including cooking in the original kitchens of the Château du Lude, shooting, boat trips, cycling, walking, painting courses and gastronomic tours, as well as team-bonding trips to venues such as the tree-top park, Tépacap (similar to Go-Ape) in Le Mans.
Total refurbishment in 2014 saw the hotel’s 22 individually-designed ensuite bedrooms finished to an extremely high standard. Each room is furnished with bespoke furniture, sumptuous fabrics and quality linens, all carefully selected to evoke the luxury of a bygone era.
The restaurant, Le Relais de Ronsard, is the ideal place for a long, leisurely lunch, a romantic candlelit dinner for two or a celebration with friends or family. Enjoy delicious seasonal dishes, prepared by chefs who have served at the hotel for over 25 years. All menus feature local specialities and specially-sourced ingredients from chosen suppliers. The extensive and historic cellars offer local French wines carefully selected for their quality and ability to complement the varied menus, at all budget levels.
The hotel offers excellent access to all main roads, whether heading north to nearby Le Mans, south to Tours and Bordeaux, or north-east to Paris. The airport at Tours and several main-line train stations are also close by.
Lead-in price: A one-night stay costs from €80 (approx. £71) per room (two sharing).
