Luxury villa holiday specialist CV Villas has announced the 15 winners of its ‘Giving Heroes a Holiday’ campaign, which was launched in May to give a huge thank you the key workers who have supported the fight against COVID-19.

The public was invited to nominate worthy individuals – from frontline NHS workers to star supermarket and delivery workers, and from pharmacists to community volunteers – with a short explanation of why they deserved to be rewarded with one of 15 exclusive villa holidays – complete with flights – to Corfu in 2021.

CV Villas received an incredible 5,000 nominations and the four judges (Francis Torrilla – Managing Director Kuoni Specialist Businesses, Tristan Symondson – CV Villas Managing Director, Sally Winfield – Accord Marketing CEO, and Lucy Huxley – Editor-in-chief, Travel Weekly Group) had to whittle down the worthy submissions to just 15 of the most outstanding individuals who went above and beyond to support the public during the COVID-19 crisis.

Winners included a couple in their 60s who left retirement to take on key worker roles as a nurse and as a supermarket worker; a teacher supporting key worker children in school and providing daily YouTube lessons for his home-schooled students; an entire family of frontline NHS workers; and a freshly-qualified ICU nurse who went straight into working on a COVID ward and who, somehow, found time between shifts to fundraise for the NHS and the NSPCC!

In a video, CV Villas’ Managing Director, Tristan Symondson, has thanked every one of the key workers who were nominated by their loved ones. He says:

“We have had over 5,000 of the most incredibly heart-warming, humbling and inspiring stories and I can honestly say that choosing the top 15 was one of the hardest things the judging panel has ever had to do. The winners have now been announced; for those of you who didn’t win, I really hope that you’re able to take advantage of your voucher. For those of you who did win, I’m really excited about welcoming you to Corfu next year. But to all of you, I just want to offer my heartfelt thanks for everything that you’ve done and are continuing to do for all of us in the fight against COVID-19.”

To ensure that all of these very deserving key workers are properly thanked, everyone who was nominated will receive a £300 voucher for use against any 2021 CV Villas holiday booking, applicable to any villa in any destination.
