Account Director Position (Maternity Cover)

Travel PR is looking for an experienced Account Director to hit the ground running and slot seamlessly into our friendly team. An effective communicator with excellent writing skills, you will have plenty of creative ideas and will be used to running high profile accounts in the consumer sector and ideally in travel.

The ideal candidate will be happy to work in a small team, taking the lead on a variety of well-established specialist consumer travel accounts (e.g. tour operators and tourist boards), be able to think strategically, to pitch ideas effectively to key media and to develop and lead creative campaigns in line with clients’ objectives. The candidate will be expected to nurture and maintain excellent relationships with clients and journalists on a daily basis, and will have a flexible and creative ‘can do’ attitude.

Required skills and experience

  • Extensive and proven PR experience at a senior level, preferably in the travel arena
  • Competent and creative, but also a strategic planner – for the agency as a whole and on the accounts on which they are working
  • An analytical mind and an eye for a good story
  • An excellent network of media contacts – particularly within travel and lifestyle
  • Proven writing skills, with the ability to write concise, engaging copy under pressure
  • A proactive and efficient management style – junior team members need to be mentored and motivated
  • A strong understanding of traditional, digital and social media
  • Meticulous attention to detail – proof-reading skills are required, and we pride ourselves on producing exacting copy
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle a variety of responsibilities and accounts
  • Crisis management experience, e.g. working under pressure on crises, would be useful
  • A keen interest in travel
