Winter wondering

March 11th, 2010

Richard and Ian at Travel PR rarely use Twitter as an excuse to bellow about their own clients - praise the heavens. What they do manage to do is provide thoughtful links, chip into discussions where appropriate and retweet the best of the people they follow. Exactly how PR people should be using Twitter.

Travel PR news - Autumn 2009

LATEST LAUNCHES, EVENTS & CONFERENCES

  • 9 SEPTEMBER - JOURNEYS OF DISTINCTION'S 2010/11 BROCHURE LAUNCH
The launch of Journeys of Distinction's (www.jod.uk.com) 2010/11 brochure, held at New Zealand House in London, took guests on a gastronomy and wine adventure. Cookery workshop sessions with 2009 MasterChef winner Mat Follas, and wine-tasting tutorials with Wine Educator Quentin Sadler, took place throughout the evening. 2010 will see Journeys of Distinction offering some exciting new gastronomic and cultural tours, and they were pleased to announce several new partnerships including exclusive affiliations with New Zealand winery Villa Maria Estate and the Raffles Culinary Academy at Raffles Hotel of Singapore. Other exciting additions for the coming year include small group tours discovering more remote areas, new destinations such as Thailand, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia, plus new itineraries and excursions.
  • 15 SEPTEMBER - AITO SKI LAUNCH
The annual AITO Ski Launch (www.aitoskiholidays.co.uk) at London's first Scandinavian bar, Nordic, was a success despite the weather outside - torrential rain failed to dampen spirits on the night. The event was attended by over 25 key press, ranging from nationals such as The Guardian, The Sunday Times, The Observer and The Sunday Telegraph to specialist ski publications such as the Ski Club's Ski & Board Magazine and The Daily Mail Ski & Snowboard Magazine. AITO specialist members are offering a growing range of destinations, including the addition of India, for the new ski season. With 27 AITO specialists that offer snow-based holidays, every winter activity imaginable is possible, from cross-country, glacier and heli-skiing to dog sledding and snowmobiling.
  • 6 OCTOBER - AITO PRESS SUPPER
AITO (www.aito.co.uk) recently held one of its regular Press Lunches and Suppers at the stylish, Michelin-starred Nahm restaurant in Belgravia's Halkin Hotel. The evening was an opportunity for representatives from several of the leading independent tour operators in the country such as Explore and Expert Africa to engage in valuable one-on-one time with key press from the likes of Wanderlust, The Daily Telegraph, BA High Life, The Sunday Times and The Observer.
  • 7 OCTOBER - MONACO TRAVMEDIA EVENT
The Monaco Tourism Authority (www.visitmonaco.com) sponsored a hugely successful TravMedia event at the House of Commons in Westminster. Hosted by Christopher Chope, Conservative MP for Christchurch, the evening presented an informal opportunity for travel industry professionals to network with many key journalists from publications such as The Times, The Sunday Times, The Daily Mail, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph and The Mail on Sunday, plus a range of glossy magazine writers. The Principality of Monaco may be glamorous but it's also surprisingly affordable, particularly during the autumn, winter and spring months. Recent developments include two new hotel openings - the boutique Ni Hotel and The Monte Carlo Beach hotel from the SBM (Societe des Bains de Mer). The Fairmont Monte Carlo has just completed a two-year refurbishment (new spa, plus new rooftop restaurant and bar) and a new nightclub, The Black Legend, is set to open soon (same owners as Byblos in St Tropez), in the arches under the F1 grid. The following weekend saw mentions for Monaco in The Observer, The Mail on Sunday and The Sunday Times.
