- 29/07/2010 - Sunvil Holidays celebrates 40 years in style
The Travel PR team joined Sunvil Holidays for an enjoyable evening in Hurley on Thames to commemorate the independent tour operator’s 40th anniversary. Staff, agents and friends were invited to visit Sunvil’s newly-renovated boat, Genevieve, at the Peter Freebody & Co boatyard. Over 80 guests enjoyed a tour of the famous boatyard, followed by a sit-down dinner in a converted barn at the Olde Bell Coaching Inn, one of the most ancient inns in the UK. The event also marked the retirement of long-standing Sales Executive, John Grew, a popular character and well-known among Sunvil’s top agents. John has retired after 18 years of loyal service to Sunvil.

Always a popular event, the Association of Independent Tour Operator’s annual BBQ enjoyed a change of London venue to No.4 Hamilton Place this year. Held on a delightful rooftop terrace overlooking Hyde Park, the event was a resounding success with over 70 top travel editors and freelance writers in attendance.Feedback from key media there on the evening speaks for itself:

- 20/04/2010 - Sunvil adds Cyprus & The Azores to online booking service
It is now possible to book holidays to the Azores and Cyprus online at www.sunvil.co.uk. This follows the successful launch of Sunvil's online booking facility for holidays to Greece, which was introduced in early January. The user-friendly service is available on selected seven and 14-night package holidays (including flights, transfers/car hire and accommodation). Extras, such as insurance and in-flight meals, can also be booked online. Sunvil's new service is available - at no additional cost - for bookings made by travel agents and direct customers alike.
- 17/04/2010 - Princess Grace of Monaco Exhibition at the V&A
Princess Grace of Monaco has long been a celebrated style icon and now her magnificent wardrobe is on display for fans to peruse at London's Victoria & Albert Museum. The unique exhibition, Grace Kelly: Style Icon features dresses from many of her films including High Society and Rear Window, as well as the gown she wore to accept her Oscar in 1955. It also follows Kelly's fashion journey from one of the most popular actresses of the 1950s to Princess of the Principality of Monaco. - 08/04/2010 - Viking Airlines moves to the world's first circular terminal
Viking Airlines UK has moved offices to a building called The Beehive at Gatwick Airport. The 'Beehive', the world's first circular terminal when it was built, was officially opened in 1936. Several features, such as a 130-yard long subway from Gatwick train station to the terminal, characterised the innovative quality of The Beehive at the time. For passengers travelling to Gatwick by train from London Victoria, it meant that there was a roof over their heads from the moment they embarked on the train all the way through to boarding the plane. Today, the building retains its Art Deco design on the exterior, whilst the interior is light, contemporary and spacious. Join Viking Airlines' Martin Lock on a short tour of The Beehive here.

Travel PR held its annual spring lunch at the acclaimed Mosimann's private dining club in Belgravia. The sun was shining, the weather was unseasonably warm and it seemed like spring had definitely arrived at last. The afternoon provided a platform for over 30 top travel journalists to exchange ideas and meet with a range of Travel PR's clients over gastronomic food in stylish surroundings. After a champagne reception and a delicious lunch, the Travel PR team led the way to the Star Tavern in the mews opposite Mosimann's to continue networking.

The Association of Independent Tour Operators' (AITO) hugely popular annual 'Meet the Media' event took place at The Brewery in London. 56 AITO tour operators and AITO Specialist Travel Agents plus 19 tourist boards took the opportunity to share their passion for travel and their hottest new holiday suggestions for the year ahead with over 130 key travel journalists, including the travel editors of most major national newspapers.

Association of Independent Tour Operators' (AITO) annual conference took place in the southern Indian city of Cochin in partnership with Kerala Tourism and the Government of Kerala. Over 97 members and journalists attended and topics discussed included a UK travel industry health check and diagnosis from Sarah Smalley, MD of GFK Ascent - MI Ltd and Lucy Huxley, Travel Editor of TTG; what's in store for the specialist tour operator - Lyn Hughes, Editor of Wanderlust and AITO consumer/ trade surveys; and selling big ethically - Sean Hinds, Commercial Director of Co-op Travel explained how a large organisation can focus on the finer details of ethical travel and remain profitable.

Travel PR organised a successful event with Kirker Holidays and the Monaco Tourist Authority at World Travel Market, to celebrate an exciting new partnership. Expanding its short breaks programme in the Principality, Kirker Holidays was delighted to announce that discerning clients travelling with them to Monaco will now enjoy complimentary helicopter transfers (one-way from 1 April 2010, worth approx £90 pp) as well as a Passport to Monaco - giving complimentary access to a wide range of museums and attractions.
- 29/09/2009 - Moctezuma Exhibition at the British Museum in association with The Traveller
Travel PR invited journalists to a private view of the British Museum's major exhibition on the Aztec ruler Moctezuma. This was the fourth of the British Museum's series of emperor exhibitions. The Traveller launched a new Moctezuma-inspired tour to Mexico in 2010 including Mexico City; the Teotihuacan site; the Monte Albán complex; Veracruz; the first town founded by the Spanish in Mexico; Cholula, where the largest pyramid in Mexico has a colonial church on top; and Guanajuato, a colonial mining town.
