Travel PR appoints Ian Bradley as new Managing Director

Travel PR, one of the leading specialist PR and crisis management agencies for the UK and international travel industry, has appointed Ian Bradley as its new Managing Director. Bradley takes over from founder Sue Ockwell, who has stepped down after nearly 14 years at the helm to take up the new role of Founder Director.

Having joined Travel PR as an Account Director in 2005, Ian was promoted to Associate Director before becoming a board member in 2008, and has considerable experience in the PR industry. Having started his career with Aer Lingus in Dublin, he moved to London to become the PR Manager (UK and Ireland) for Icelandair and represented the Iceland Tourist Board during a period of significant growth for the destination before moving to Travel PR. Since 2005, the number of clients at Travel PR has grown from 22 to close to 40 and the company is recognised as one of the leading players in the travel social media scene, with highly regarded Twitter, YouTube and blog sites, in addition to managing and providing content for clients’ sites. The company also specialises in crisis communications, with regular appearances on BBC News and Sky News, and provides crisis management expertise to retained clients and external companies as contracted.

Bradley comments: “I’m delighted to become the new MD for Travel PR and to follow in the footsteps of Sue Ockwell who is one of the doyennes of the travel PR industry and who will still have an active role within the company. Travel PR weathered the recession without making any staff redundant and our very capable team of PR professionals, many of whom have been with us for almost five years, inspire loyalty in our clients and confidence in the journalists with whom we deal. Travel PR has an excellent reputation, not only within the industry, but with the key travel press and it’s my aim to build upon these relationships and move Travel PR on to the next level. I have already identified areas for potential growth and am formulating plans to capitalise on our expertise and engage with prospective clients whilst ensuring our existing clients continue to receive the unique ‘Travel PR’ service they have always enjoyed, 24/7.”

Travel PR has a wide portfolio of clients in the travel industry, representing UK and overseas hotels and tour operators, trade associations, tourist boards and more.  The company was established in 1997. Visit www.travelpr.co.uk for further details.
