A great starter for 10 as new AITO Specialist Travel Agents Chairman secures Tunisian National Tourist Office as sponsor of AITOversity Challenge
AITO Specialist Travel Agents are preparing to talk-the-talk and walk-the-walk with the launch of the AITOversity Challenge to prove the depths of their expert travel knowledge – and newly installed chairman Oliver Broad is proud to have the backing of the Tunisian National Tourist Office as the event’s headline sponsor.
Members of the nationwide group, comprising 130 leading, independent travel agents, are set to battle it out in the quest to be crowned the most knowledgeable agency in a University Challenge-style contest. AITO Agents must enter teams of four by 9th October, nominating a team captain, who will complete the first online round on behalf of their team against the clock. Sponsored by Online Travel Training, the round will be completed before the end of October after which both the semi-finals and the Grand Final will take place at the AITO Specialist Travel Agents’ Domestic Conference in Warwick, January 15-16 2011.
AITOversity comes on the heels of the successful Mastermind competition, for individual agency staff, held by AITO Specialist Travel Agents last year, and won by Claire Hunt of Journeys a la Carte.
Oliver Broad, AITO Specialist Travel Agents’ spokesman, comments: “Having the backing of a major tourist board for our knowledge based events the second year running is a ringing endorsement of the role of independent travel agents. I’m especially delighted to have the Tunisian Tourist Board supporting AITOversity and am confident the Grand Final in January will be a great event. Competitive bunch that we are, I’m expecting AITOversity Challenge to be hotly-contested as agents seek to show just who’s top of the class when it comes to travel. I’ve seen the trophy and it will certainly provide the finishing touch to any in-store display.”
Moncef Battikh, Head of Promotions for the Tunisian National Tourist Officein London comments: “We are really pleased to be working with AITO Agents as they represent the crème of the crop of the UK’s independent retail sector, we are excited at the prospect of educating them on the delights of what Tunisia has to offer”
